Someone posted this on the entertainment board and I was the only one to respond, I've got a feeling it'll get more interest here.

A new Matt Good single has been released, the album is coming in May. I think it sounds good, and I enjoyed his last album, so I'm pretty excited.

Yeah. I'm a long time Matt Good fan. Apparently the single is easily the most "radio friendly". I like it, but I don't love it.

Looks like I might be moving to Vancouver. Just go accepted into a program at UBC. It's going to be a bit weird going back to school.

Can anyone suggest some affordable areas of town?

I'm not a big Matt Good fan, but that's a decent song.

affordable rent in Vancouver?

Not much near UBC. Some places near Commercial might be alright, but it's about a 30-40 minute trip to campus from there.

I know. I'm coming from Victoria and rents are pretty high here, so hopefully the difference won't be too shocking. I've been looking on Craigslist and the prices in a lot of areas don't seem all that much higher than here.

I'd love to live in the Commercial Drive area.

Rent aside, I'm ridiculously exited about the prospect of moving to Vancouver.

I fell ass backwards into a nice bachelor suite in North Vancouver in the Lonsdale area. The apartments around me seem pretty expensive though.

No way, a daily commute from North Van to UBC is insane.

What do you mean by that, that you need one to drive a manual car?

No. You can get your license on auto/standard and drive auto/standard all you like.

Thanks, i am just looking for a car with manual transmission and wonder whether i am allowed to drive it or not. Of course i will have someone teach me the basic before using it to commute.

You'll just need a valid drivers liscence, doesn't specify Auto or Manual on it, you can drive both if you want, although manual is a lot more hands on...

Hope you buy a really cheap one. If you're going to have to learn stick, you're going to stall the crap out of it while learning.

If you're in Lonsdale? You walk to the Seabus, take the 15 minute crossing and take the number 4 bus right to UBC.

Either way, it's mostly pretty expensive here. I think it's nice though and cheaper than most places in Vancouver proper.

I like the outdoor aspect of the North Shore.

No mountains in Vancouver proper.

Even if you're not into skiing. There's biking, hiking, snowshoeing, etc. If you want to stay fit, there's lots to do.

"Little Mountain" at Queen Elizabeth park is an inactive volcano.

This is crazy amazing:

Quote:
Three separate tracks from the latest Tool album can be assembled into a different one -- it's like Voltron, only with progressive metal songs instead of progressive metal robots (seriously, those guys had a woman pilot before most airlines). But plenty of bands do multi-part songs, so there's nothing special about it, right?

Well, the difference is that, in this case, you don't get the full song by doing something as mundane as playing one track after the other -- you get it by changing the order and playing them at the same time.
I'm sure it's been out there a while but I just stumbled on it.
