The Atlanta Thrashers would like to inspire ourselves from the great Montreal Canadians, and with the 132nd pick, we would like to select....Minnesota Mr. Hockey, Kyle Rau.
There's room for smaller players in this league and we believe that he could totally bring his exciting and offensively gifted game to the higher levels. From his hands, to his skating, to his work ethich and commitment, we just believe his skills were too great to pass on at this point even if there were other interesting players out there. We have been impressed, as short a stint it was, that he was able to keep his offensive rhythm in the USHL. And next year, he's going to be a Gopher which should improve next year.
Besides, you can't pass a guy who already has an "History will be made" video.... (For whoever wants to know, the last line is in relation with Rau saying to his teamates before the season started that he would not join them and go in the USHL...but he changed his mind)
NY Rangers WAS PM'ed.
I just knew you were going to take my pick!
Very exciting talent, I was looking for him to be the next St. Louis.
"Matt has good size and skill but what impresses us most is his ability to read the game. He's going to a strong program in Yale and we think this local kid could be a real good addition to our young defence corps in a few years."
This is a scandal, the media will have a field day with this!
"Local boy snubbed. GM asleep at the wheel"
I'm actually surprised nobody mentioned how I'm snubbing the locals as of yet... Hudon was on my list though. Was between him, Rau and another guy not picked yet. Chose Rau 'cause it's possible that 2 of the forwards I took might, at worst, only have 3rd line upside...and I believe it could also be Hudon's case.
There are still A LOT of interesting players. I guess we'll only know in 5 years, and obviously the draft always looks better when it happens than the actual result, but I believe people will have to stop that "2011 is weak" statement...
With the 135th pick the Dallas Stars are proud to select Calgary Hitmen Defenseman Alex Roach
Alex has been a constant riser during the year. He had harder time adjusting to the WHL speed at the start but at the end the year he was one of the top defenseman for the Hitmen. He has all the tools and the work ethic to become a ''horse'' next year.
Buffalo and Habitants are now on the clock and has been notified !
The Montréal Canadiens are proud to select, from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the USHL, Cason Hohmann.
Hohmann has a lot of things going for him, he's very fast, feisty, equally talented as a playmaker or a scorer, lives to win and is going to a very good program in BU. But, he's small, 5"8 at the very most. However, we don't put a big emphasis on size when the player is ready to do anything on the ice to win, and Hohmann does just that.
