I know Pouliot down the line has all the potential in the world and all, but he's been terrible and I think he isn't a good fit here. He's not a defensive minded player in the slightest. It was worth a shot but I don't think it's working out.

I do however think he'll blossom elsewhere, just not here.

Plus Pouliot imo is expendable and what we get in return could be some depth in the AHL, we're seriously lacking defensive prospects now in the AHL.

I wouldn't be against trading Pouliot+ for a solid defensive prospect, maybe a Tinordi who is further along in development, even one who slumped in his first AHL season. Take on another project but younger.
Pouliot is turning 25 soon, so he's close to being more of a journeyman NHLer than a project or prospect. After a strong half season last year, he's had a very up and down year, too many nights he is either invisible or making negative contributions(dumb penalities and bad turnovers).

If i have to decide now the answer is yes. I like PG will wait till the summer to decide though.
The playoffs will help determine who we resign.

Darche is certainly expendable, but at the same time he brings a lot. I really like Darche, so I would keep him. The thing is he really does not hurt anything. At 500 grand he is not eating up a lot of cap. He is cheap, serviceable depth.

It's funny, reputation is everything... If he was a vet (800 games played etc..) he'd cost us 1-1.5 million.

He's a hell of a bargain.

one of the best players given his abilities and skills

I'd give him a little bonus, like 1.2/2yrs

I'd understand skepticism if he'd be earning 1.5m to 2m per, but at the league minimum, he's been nothing but phenomenal, versatile and smart... on top of contributing offensively ... especially when you take into account the number of minutes he played. Good hockey player, with far more offensive qualities than what he is given credit for.

What are you thinking? You would would trade a young, talented NHL player for defensive depth in the AHL? Are you a Bruins mole?

Darche and Halpern, nah. Whenever I see Halpern I think he could be replaced by just about anybody who could play hockey a bit.

Darche is like Begin but without the big hits.

I like Pouliot though. When he builds that muscle that develops on a guy's body in his late 20s he's going to be a real train. Good reach, skates well, can shoot. Be patient ladies.

say whaa?

Darche is nothing like Begin. Look at Darche's career in in UNI, AHL etc... he puts up points. In 2008, he scored 31g, 35 A with Portland. Begin, who is the same age as Darche back then, has 5 points in 32 games in Milwaukee.

I feel bad for Darche, he was robbed from a legitimate shot of having a long NHL career.

He should have been a rich man today.

He has one of the best hockey IQs in the league. It's funny, I remember when he was signed to his one year contract, there were still quite a lot of people that thought it was a waste of money and that money could have been spent elsewhere. How the times have changed.

Darche has been more usefull than Pouliot whom I'd trade to gain a couple of spots for our 1st rounder at the draft. I'm sure some team would want him. But that's it. He'd be better on a bad team. Darche, however, is a good guy to have on our bottom six. I'd sign him 2-3 years.

I thought he was useless last year and I didn't really like him. However, he kept improving his game and he is very effective at what he does. It's rare that the line he is in sucks. Plus, the guy is a big brother for rookies and young players and that is very important. Give him another year and reward him, please, with a 800K contract.

If all the forwards played with half the jam he does, they wouldn't score so few goals. Stick on the ice, drive the net, score goals. Not that difficult a concept.

Doesn't cost much and we are sure he will show up every night. Like I mentioned a few weeks ago, I hope Gauthier doesn't even need to think about this and offers him something

Not necessarily. Didn't Metropolit score 15 for us last year?
