Best player in the last decade?

Who was the best player for the habs from 2000 to 2010? (Don't have to be the full decade...)

Saku Koivu?
Alex Kovalev?
Jose Theodore?
Richard Zednik?
Sergei Samsonov?
Scott Gomez?
Gino Odjick?
Janne Niinimaa?

looking at this list......Niinimaa made me laugh........I think markov or saku would be the best players we have had in the last decade.

How anyone can say anybody's name other than Andrei Markov, I will not understand.

Koivu could get an honourable mention though.

Markov and far behind is Plekanec.

Markov was THE best dman in the league a 3-4 years ago.

But for Markov's recent injuries I would be going with him but am going with Koivu. Given the body of work these two have produced with the Habs over the decade I don't think you can go wrong, it's more an argument of who's more right.

Aside from those two, (as I'm confident most people will choose one or the other) I'd go with Thomas Plekanec. He's been a responsible two-way center since day one who has put up five 20-goal plus seasons for us strait. The jury is definitely still out on him for the playoffs but he's been an impact player on this team since the start of his second season and, aside from an off season two years ago, he's only ever got better for us.

What a sad reminder of what the last decade was like. Did we have a 40 goal scorer? Just one?

for the sake of significance and impact, yes

Quality over quantity.

He's not even the best goalie.... Hell, barely top 4. He had one great run, rest he was good but never that good to be considered number one goalie let alone player.

1. Price
2. Theodore
3. Huet
4. Halak

Saku then Markov

Marky didn't really breakout until post lockout, while Saku has been consistent for the entire decade. Saku gets bonus points for making Joe Thornton and the Bruins his *****.

Right, he only took this team on his back farther than it has gone since 93...

Considering last playoffs where we went on the 3rd round the first time since 1993 I can agree...

Quality over quantity I agree...

Well, in Markov's case, it has been quality AND quantity... but yeah, Halak have been of great quality. Well, that's your opinion

Right and to be considered "best player" you have to play more than one playoff run. Lots of players have awesome playoff runs, doesn't make them deserving of being the best player. I honestly think you're trolling lol
