Fan Appreciation Night on April 8th

The Sabres are going to host fan appreciation night on the final regular season home game.

The "holy crap" part is that they invited all former players.

We have tix to this game.

I'll give it a "holy crap!" It's still pretty fantastic to see what is happening for us fans.

Man alive Sabre fans will ***** and moan about anything...
That sounds like an awesome event, one which I dont ever really remember happening at the HSBC.

Not too mention the potential good press that events like this do for the Sabres image.

I swear they could give out $20's to every one at the game and people would ***** that they didnt get 50's.

"Not only is this our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the fans, but it’s a chance for the fans to say ‘thank you’ to all the wonderful former players that have worn the Buffalo Sabres uniform over the past 40 years," Sabres owner Terry Pegula said in a statement. "I think this will be a very special night for everyone involved."

Every former player that attends will be part of a pregame Party in the Plaza red carpet event outside HSBC Arena from 5-7 p.m. Alumni will be dropped off at the red carpet in a car from their era, and will be available for autographs and pictures as they walk into the arena prior to the game against Philadelphia.

Quote:
"Ever since we opened up the Sabres Suggestion Box, the fans kept telling us to bring back Fan Appreciation Night," Black said. "We have the greatest fans in the NHL, and they deserve to be treated that way. It’s not just about the game, we want to recognize our fans as well."
Talk about an ownership that really backs up a first-class attitude with a first-class action - after all the suffering that Buffalo sports fans have had to endure the past 40 years, the Pegula era really does seem like the best is yet to come.

Quote:
All attending alumni will also be honored in a pregame on-ice ceremony that will also include presentation of the 2010-11 Sabres MVP, Rookie of the Year and Hardest Working Player awards. In addition, an online vote will provide Sabres fans with the opportunity to make their choice for “The 7th Man” – the team’s Fan of the Year Award. Details of the online voting process will be announced shortly.

The MVP award is a tough one - no one player has really stood out from start to finish as a dominant reason the team wins. Miller, Vanek, Stafford, Ennis and Leopold have all had their stretches of brilliance. I'd go the unorthodox route and redefine "MVP" as Most Valuable Person and give it to Pegula.

Rookie of Year is a no-brainer for Ennis.

Hardest working player should awarded to Kaleta or Hecht IMO.

Assuming the 7th Man award is another name for the most underrated/unappreciated, Montador probably should win it IMO because he gets the least press and media hype despite being at, or near, the top all season long in +/- and consistency.

Throughout the game, season ticket holders will be selected though random drawings to win a jersey off the back of a Sabres player. The winning fans will then be brought down to the ice post-game, and will receive their game-worn jersey directly from their selected player.

I think they are saying "7th Man Award" is the best Buffalo Sabres fan. Which is obviously Terry Pegula.
