I'm with those who think we need to just leave the pre-game warm ups alone. Rule 63.4 states that objects thrown on the ice that disrupt the game can result in a bench minor for the home team. I don't think that it would necessarily cost us a minor penalty by doing it right before the National anthem, but then we'd be disrupting the anthem itself. I doubt that is even looked at in a good light by our own fans, much less around the league. Not to mention these guys are very much beings of habit. We might disrupt Edmonton, but we might also get someone off his game. Plus there isn't any guarantee the team will know what we're doing. I mean, it should be obvious, but a lot more obvious things have gone unnoticed around the NHL

I think the best way to go about this without costing the team would be just sending them to the Bridge so they can be delivered in the dressing room before the game. This isn't really for us, the fans, anyway. It's to show Blake he's loved here...
But Think of the noise it would generate right off the bat, we would generate heavy momentum to start off the game. If I was a player I would love it too!

I'm sure they wouldn't start the anthem until the hats finish falling. If I score a hat trick, I would love to be on ice raining when it is raining the hats I won, but thats just from my perspective, and I've never played in front of a crowd bigger than my high school war team, but I would love the hats.

I hope we do it but if nobody else agrees I guess I'm in the minority

Nah, it prob seems cool in your head but I doubt it wouldn't go off well in the moment and would be a lot of negative press around the league.

Does anyone know if Peks threw his hat like Lindy did when J.P. scored his 3???

might as well put this here

while we're all downright giddy over the unlikely win yesterday, one has to pause and think thru the things that put us in that hole to begin with. i think of it as 'fair and balanced' commenting.

the bad things;

..we were exceptionally lucky. vanek, coulda/shoulda have had four goals himself. they hit the crossbar on another.

..lindbach got the job done, which is all you can ask for out of your backup goalie. this despite the total inability of the sabre announcer to pronounce his name correctly, even by accident, lol. now having said that lindback was in scramble mode pretty much all night from the first shot that went off his glove to the last big rebound shot with 30 seconds to go in regulation. rebounds, loose pucks everywhere. mixed with two/three truly great saves. the one on vanek after the brebound with him on his back was the best, but their were others.

..we surrended far too many odd man rushes. two two on ones (defenseman's fault), and about 5 three on twos (the forwards fault).

..we couldn't score on our good chances, and then somehow score on all three of geoffrion's not near as good chances. the weber mis-hit on the backdoor, the toots post, the hornqvist puck in the feet rebound, the erat breakaway, the hornqvist/kostitsyn whack a mole right on the goalline, the two open slot shots from kostitsyn late. the lack of ability to finish almost and probably should have beaten us. it didn't though.

..klein not tieing up the little kid in the slot on goal one.
..webs with the puck chipped around him into a 2 on 1 on the second.
..the bad penalty, followed by the pk breakdown and the fairly weak goal allowed by lindbach on the pp one.

all three bad. in fact, what a horrible second period.

...not a strong game by our defensive corps to be honest. suter/webs with more mistakes than usual. klein with his typical once a game brainfart. franson with a couple of early turnovers. not our best game in our end.

and yet, it was those failings that put us in the hole that allowed the miracle feel-good comeback, that potentially could help us momentum and confidence wise heading into the last 9. i guess we should be thankful, lol.

whatever it was, it was certainly capped off by 3 minutes of highly unlikely euphoria. sure glad i saw it

The problem is there will be 15000 fans there and maybe twenty of you will be in on the plan. To everyone else it will just be a w t f moment and doing it during the anthem without telling the anthem singer will really cause chaos. Slake was polite but I'm blunt. Its a bad idea. Do something else. Please.

why not go over to section 116/115 and toss them on the bench about 6:15

(Volde just don't get rid of the lucky hat)

Dumping them on the bench might be cool, but I think we ought to start a tradition here. Deliver hats to the player in the locker room if it's an away hat trick

Actually I think we need to let them know from the outset that we expect a win and we mean business. They got lucky. Yeah, yeah, so did Buffalo on those two quick goals so we're kind of even. But it's the past. No giddiness, win the dang game. I'm sick of being beaten by Edmonton and we need the two points.

So I'm gonna give 'em my steely eyed stare and bribe them with sammitches.

welcome!
It's getting better over there since the KickApps crappy board seems to have gone by the wayside. Don't know what they replaced it with, but it sure feel more like the old boards technically. Traffic's picking back up some, and most seem to be rational people...other than being PredFanatics, which is a good thing. Troll traffic is still way down, which I can live with. I'm enjoying the boards here, too, though...now that I've found them.

We live up your way now, too. We bought a small farm between Bowling Green and Glasgow. All we need up there, is a good "sister" station to 102.9. Can't pick the radio feed up worth a d*mn up there.

No chance of that!

Back in the sully kariya days I often brought an extra hat just in case.

The bench is a good ideea but still might get u escorted out if the usher in that section doesn't get the memo.

IMHO Guest services is the way to do it.

I think if a few folks tossed hats after the anthem the players would get a kick out of it, probably loosen them up too, which we'll need against the Oil.

It looks like SEC303 has organized a "hat collection" bin for tonight's game.

Good looking out

I still remember the picture of Erat taken when he was given his hats in the locker room. The look in his eye reminded me of a kid at Christmas haha

I prefer to dump them on the bench, for everyone to see and show our loyalty to the player(s).

Deliver them in the locker room is not that cool.

World need to see, players need to see, NHL needs to see...

I wouldn't be too upset with dumping them on the bench just remove metal objects from the hats before we dump them to avoid having to resharpen! I'll give my hats to 303, Sorry I was so gung ho about throwing them

I agree. There needs to be a few hats on the ice between the anthem and the drop.

haha it's cool. Ideas are always welcome around here. It's just sometimes it takes other perspective to realize it might not be the best idea.

For example, the first Chicago v Nashville game in Nashville after the Kane v Cab Driver incident there were some posters who wanted to toss dimes on the ice to mock Kane. It's a fun idea, but it's pretty likely that all of the dimes aren't collected. All of the sudden you have a piece of metal that can cause a lot of damage out there. Anything from dulling a skate to stopping a skater's leg suddenly and torquing a knee to, I'd imagine, damaging a zamboni.

Don't ever apologize for being gung ho about supporting the Preds

unless you kill someone because of it or something...

So my idea of tracking down and strangling the ref for waving off Erat's goal is out of the question I suppose? lol joking

So what happened to those hats? I dropped off a handful at section 303

The hats are to be presented to Geoffrion from the team at practice tomorrow. The occasion will be captured on video and a clip will be shown to the public ..

FYI - there's a picture up on np.com of Blake with his hats and pucks after the presentation.
