Shane Doan and Mike Smith: Game 5 Antics

Reports of Trotz wooing Doan sound interesting, and he would make for a hell of a Predator at a reasonable price. His current contract is for just over 4 mil a year, I could see him signing a 2-3 deal to end his career as a Pred (and get a few shots at a cup) for about that price or just under.

Trotz spoke with Doan briefly in the handshake line much like he did with Lidstrom. I didn't necessarily take it as "wooing". The two have a relationship from international tournaments.

I don't particularly want him. He's old and has slowed down considerable. He still has something left obvious but he shouldn't be a scoring line IMO. He'll be 4th line material soon. For cheap, sure. But someone will overpay him.

Sir, the possibility of successfully acquiring Shane Doan is approximately 3720 to 1.

I'd love him, but I don't see him leaving Phoenix.

The odds are better that I'll get attacked by a polar bear, great white shark, aliens, and a yeti while my wife allows me to get wild with a supermodel than those of Doan leaving Phoenix ... and that first set of events has less than a 0% chance of happening.

I think Doan would consider Nashville a real possibility out of whichever teams he is looking at. I am willing to wager on here with someone if they think he is going to be in PHX if they get bounced in the WCF..
Trotz would love to have him and i would to. He brings leadership and consistency. He has put up 50+ points every year for over 10 years now. Not seeing anyone on the Preds roster who is doing that. With all of those facts as well as being very physical and smart at 6'1 233. I would definatly give him a look for the right price for a 2-3 line guy.

Funny Doan is better than lets see. Legwand, Fisher, SK, Spaling, and Horny. Bourque, Wilson, Smith have potential. Uprades are a good thing.

I could see Wilson and Bourque but Smith is just okay for me. Guess I just prefer Halischuk's style of play more.

agreed upgrades are good. but if we got doan, that would be our "deal"..

so then what doan on a first line with erat and legwand/fisher? point being we have plenty of 2nd/3rd liners, if its not a first line forward I don't want them.

Rads is probably. AK is probably gone. We're gonna need some 2nd line wingers.

More importantly, Doan doesn't play like AK, Radulov, Erat, SK, or anyone. He is tough as nails and great leader, but also has skill. He adds some grit to the soft Euro group we have. I would LOVE Doan on this team.

After reading that I'm wondering how exciting your life must be for this to the slightly more adventurous than your current life.

You mean this isn't a normal thing for people?

No. You do what is best to improve your team. Doan would improve this team a lot more than staying put with what we have. Doan is not going to disappear for long periods during the year nor is he going to go in hiding during the playoffs.
Erat-?-Rads/?
Borque -Wilson-Smith
Horny-Fisher/Legwand-Doan
?-Spaling/Goose/Legwand-Halischuck

Does not want Doan. I've always been led to believe he'll hang it up when his career with Phoenix is over anyway.

I like Doan and hate the Coyotes... but I think he should stay there until he's done and I don't see any reason that he wouldn't. I hated Ray Bourque on the Avs, winning the cup didn't change that at all.

After the way they got eliminated in the playoffs, I'd be very surprised if Doan left Phoenix.
