Well said.

I hope he is suspended the rest of the season AND playoffs. I agree with others that Bylsma and Mario need fines/suspensions as well. Glad McDonaugh is ok. We don't need another player's career snuff out by this dirtbag.

the way Sauer and Dubinsky cleared the crease out in the 3rd was memorable to me. Brandon took on two guys and Sauer put Kunitz on his arse

I lost all respect for Talbot when he speared Chris Osgood in the finals, the doubly so when he turtled against the icelanders

That was pretty awesome. Dubi just started hitting everything and Sauer basically removed Kunitz from the equation.

That means he got at least 5 games.

Matt Cooke is single handedly leading the league down the very path that it promises us, the paying fans that it intends to veer away from: dangerous, reckless play where a half-skilled half-wit can leech the quality of the game right out of it while exposing the elite athletes we clamour to watch to season and career-shortening injury. It's unforgivable.

I LOVE hard-played hockey, within the confines of the rulebook. I HATE everything Matt Cooke stands for.

I'm a Leaf fan, but I feel outrage watching any player, Savard, Ovie, Sid, writhing on the ice while some underachiever skates off with 5 and a game.

Enough already. Time for the league to do what has to be done. Anything less than a 10 game misconduct is an admission of incompetence.

Fifth time offender. And coming at a time when head shots are a hot-button issue. An example will be made.

matt Cooke makes Mario look like a dumbass and a jack ass. that's reason enough for me to hope he stays in pit and plays for another 20 years

Agreed. The timing couldn't have been worse for this guy. There isn't even a hint of any type hockey play associated with this hit.

Cut and dry intent to injury - major suspension.

I firmly believe that the problem lies within the PITT organization in this case. They are failing to reinforce the mandate of the league, and making the clown an 'A' is salt in an open wound. Captains, even alternates, are supoosed to lead by example. Is this the example Lemieux , Shero and Bylsma are setting?

SOLUTION: shorten the bench for the length of the suspension. Punish the team as a whole, and you have your deterrent. This is out of hand.

He better not have the injury starting with the letter C.

Mario is the biggest crybaby in the league, and has the biggest goon in the league, how come no one knocked that little midget Cooke out. I liked Sauer flattening their other pesky midget Kunitz and getting in their 3rd midget Talbot's face...

I wouldn't be surprised if it was 10+. Bad timing, high profile game, no "accident" what so ever, repeated offender, add up and I say 10+

Skating 100ft across the ice to deliver a viscious elbow to a defenseless player, should park his butt for 20 games and next time 40 games...

Right in the middle of the NHL having issues with head shots and dirty hits, what do ya know, Cook commits another dirty head shot.

Get this clown out of the league.

Because the refs had escorted him off the ice before anyone knew what had happened.

Seriously. The Refs had Cooke on the way to the locker room faster than PK Slewfoot can run and hide behind the linesman.

OF course he did. The worst thing for the Pens is if the NHL comes down with a weak suspension and Cooke plays again soon. Say Cooke, as a repeat offender, only gets 4 games. If you are a team lining up against Pitt in the playoffs with Crosby back in the lineup, is it worth a 4 game suspension for a 4th liner to take a head shot at Crosby and possibly knock him out of the series and beyond? Absolutely.
