Kypreos has been wrong before, but we'll go with this.

Should have been for the playoffs, too. Too light.

Should have been for the entire playoffs. However, the first round may be the entire playoffs for Pittsburgh.

10 games + 4/7.

So, between 14 and 17. Seems right to me.

I think it's good, but I don't think it will deter him from playing the way he does, I think it now gives the Penguins and Lemieux a scape goat to not take action on Cooke as well...

"Well, the league did enough so we don't want to get involved"

Next time he does this (which he will) He better get 40+

i think thats a good job by the nhl. of course alot of us want the guy thrown out of the league but that's not realistic at least not yet. this is a very firm statement.

Next time someone takes an elbow to crosby's head, pittsburg has no right to complain if they allow cooke to play again.

Mario's just a hypocrite, that's all.

Check out Gross's blog post about it. Apparently Mario told Cooke either change the way you play or GTFO.

Probably get into 20+ territory. I don't think he'll ever get a sub-10 game suspension again, due to his history.

He will never get a light deal ever again. In fact, he'll be lucky if he doesn't get the no-tolerance Avery treatment from the Refs from now on.

Like Mario didn't already know that that's the kind of "player" Matt Cooke is? Like this is the first time he's done something like this?

Too little too late. If he didn't want to see play like this they should have never brought him in in the first place. He's a hypocrite, the best thing he could do now is get rid of Matt Cooke. Giving him the "A" was definitely not the way to go.

how do guys like this wear the "A" ill never understand that.

heck guess who wore one of the "A" for the Caps a few years ago, yep former Ranger Donald Brashear

i think the A and C should not be given to a player who been suspended more than once during the season. that is not leading by example..

It is definitely more than I expected. In addition to the suspension I hope when he returns next season he gets the Avery treatment. The one where players are allowed to slash, crosscheck and pretty much do whatever they want to him without being called in an effort to drive him out of the league, meanwhile he is called anytime he touches someone. I think that would be justice.

What if it was a "star" player that he elbowed this time.. Would the suspension be even longer? Probably...

A message was sent. And to me, the best part is they didn't take into consideration the fact that MCD returned to the game. The hit, the action and the intent matter. Strong precedent set.
