Zibanejad is one of the few players in Sweden that have ever made Adam Larsson look silly:

Very smart player, speaks english, finnish and swedish. the second best prospect playing in Sweden right now after Larsson. Hits the hell out of everything too as our buddy Carl Klingberg can attest:

IMO he goes in the first round, top 20. Whoever gets him gets a very good player, I think he might end up switching to RW in the NHL just because his skillset is so balanced, has a power forward's strength and build. Goes into dirty areas without hesitation, 6'1, 195 and only 19 years old. Excellent on faceoffs. Some call him the next zetterberg, is that true? Who knows but he's pretty talented.

Another person climbing up the rankings is Sven Baertschi. 5'11 winger, finesse hands but also bangs around, but not as much physical as his fellow countryman Nino Niederreiter. He was ranked the 2nd best draft-eligible out of the WHL in the preliminary draft rankings from CSS. His coach actually tells him that he spends too much time on the ice after practice ends, like, 45 minutes he's still out there.

I would say not good.

"Teams can only move up 4 slots maximum and drop no more than 1 spot in the order."

So we could end up 2nd? Unless Gary wants to pull a penguins, I don't see it happening.

i say unless we get a top three pick we trade down. there are several players in the middle of the first round that would fill organizational needs and it would be nice to get a 2nd rounder.

i also feel we should package some of our 4th and 5th round picks we got from all the rentals we sold in order to get a third rounder, and then package that with a later pick to get a 2nd rounder. find someone who wants to trade their high picks for low picks and go to town, we have a ton of 4-7 round picks to trade.

i'm cool with trading down, but it depends on how things shake out...i'd have a hard time passing up Couturier or Huberdeau, but if theyre gone, i wouldnt mind trading down to 11-13ish to grab Zibanejad or McNeil (trading down TWICE would be even cooler, 6 to 9ish, 9 to 13ish, snag multiple 2nds or 3rds..again, all depends on how things roll down the line).

I agree. If Couturier or any of the projected top 3 fall to us, we snatch them up and don't think twice about it. If not, then we can trade down.

I don't know if Zibanejad will be available outside the top 10. If he is though...

well, well. The Devil was in the details. I wonder if it was a part of the agreement on the Kovy dealings????

I'd hate to be one of those losers sitting there on the panel of 5 losers. They looked like the big dork losers on the old Dating Game waiting to try to steal a kiss from the Party ***** on the other side of the wall that didn't pick them....

We move down to SEVEN! I'm betting #6 will be the next great player, lol.

unreal...NJ moved up to 4th, ATL now picks 7th.

RNH, Larsson, Landeskog, Huberdeau & Couturier all likely gone...hmm.

as of right now i'm voting trade down a few if none of those guys fall, i'm sure Strome, Hamilton & Murphy could be targets for a team or 2....i could see Boston moving up for one of the D-men

First thing that came out of my mouth was "Son of a *****!!!" It really isn't fair.

I would say our chances of trading down just went up.

well, look at it this way, if we were already a done deal to Winnypig, the Thrash would have definitely won it.

Just because we are now 7th, it doesn't mean that one of those guys won't fall to us. I know it's a different year, but here's the rankings from last year:

North American skaters | European skaters
1 Taylor Hall (LW) | Mikael Granlund (C, W)
2 Tyler Seguin (C) | Vladimir Tarasenko (RW)
3 Brett Connolly (RW) | Evgeny Kuznetsov (C)
4 Erik Gudbranson (D) | Calle Jarnkrok (C)
5 Cam Fowler (D) | Ludvig Rensfeldt (LW)
6 Brandon Gormley (D) | Maxim Kitsyn (LW)
7 Mark Pysyk (D) | Oscar Lindberg (C)
8 Emerson Etem (RW) | Tom Kuhnhackl (RW)
9 Derek Forbort (D) | Adam Pettersson (C)
10 Ryan Johansen (C) | Martin Marincin (D)

Notice no Jeff Skinner and no Nino Niederreiter, who were both taken in the top 7 bumping these Top Guys down.

Also, Johansen is 10th on that list. He ended up what? 5th? Etem dropped and dropped and he's ranked 8th on that list.

And Cam Fowler went 12th even though he was 5th on the NA ranks.
Some teams see something in some players that make them want to pick them ahead of where they are ranked and others see flaws that make that player drop. We could still get those guys or we might get someone just as good (similar to CAR picking Skinner).

of course...any of the top 12 could slide up or down a few spots, but those top 3 at least look pretty secure to me..maybe NJ falls in love with a Zibenajd or Siemens, Lou likes to make those kind of picks. Still a lot of time for things to change, but i'd be surprised of Couturier fell to ATL.

i still cant believe NJ won it.
