In re the game: I still think that this is a very winnable game for the Caps. While I respect this iteration of the Flyers, I don't fear them at all tbh. Maybe I'm deluding myself, but I welcome a matchup with these guys once the playoffs start (for a number of reasons; one, it'll likely mean that we are in the ECF, and two I think they can be had.)
If our team continues with the effort from the past few weeks with a mostly healthy lineup I'm not scared of anyone in the playoffs in the East.

FWIW, I'm glad I don't live in NoVA anymore because of the traffic. The weather is a plus down south, too.

Philly's GDTs are EPIC.

As much as I despise the Flyers, their fans are here are a semi-decent bunch.

I'm a believer in this bunch. Health permitting (and by that I mean that Ovechkin's injury doesn't become debilitating, and Arnott's groin heals sufficiently enough for him to be the effective player we saw immediately after the acquisition), I think we do serious damage this year in the postseason.

There are benefits and detriments to living in any region of the country, so one's proclivities go in to whether or not they enjoy the quality of life in a particular locale. All subjective, so I don't begrudge your comment really. I just felt the nativistic need to say something smart allecky in defense of the region .

congrats. I can keep a novel on each team and add to it. Man. what a life.

As for their fans, a lot are clowns. A few are ok. That's pretty much where it ends.

People forget that while we are without our best player they are without theirs as well.

Unless you're in Charleston, there's not a single place in South Carolina I'd want to live in over the DC area.

Last time we played the Flyers without Ovechkin we won 8-2. Let's hope Carcillo gives us another 9 minute power play.

Going to be at the game tonight, my fourth Caps road game of the season (and second in Philly). Always fun times wearing Red to the Orange & Black convention.

I'm predicting OT.

Yep I made the trip up to Philly for that one and actually sat in front of Varly's girlfriend, she was very striking in person and very sweet. She chatted with my lady for a while. Speaking of Flyers fans, the vast majority sitting in my section were very cool and fun people. Chatting about the game and actually sharing a laugh at the Carcillo blunder.

Between the second and third period I literally was almost attacked by a group of fans outside the mens room because I was wearing my Ovechkin jersey. One moron in the group started shouting inches from the back of my head and then his friends joined the chorus line. Luckily there were a lot of sensible people around to defuse the situation. It was absolutely ridiculous.

Oh no... We suck again!!! Tanking...

If we are tanking lets tank it in style.
Well technically this thing isnít really a tank itís an artillery system, but for our purposes it will do.

I fully support this statement. Charleston is one of the very few cities that I would actually consider moving to.

Not so behind the times, the sports writers started blogging over the last few weeks, but I think yesterday was the first day the actual sports section returned.

He is a former Flyers writer, who was a former underling of Masisak at the Times reporting on the Capitals before he reported on the Flyers.

I was at that game as well. The fans around us were a lot less friendly (up in the nosebleeds). Granted, there were 5 of us in red/white jerseys and we were making a fair bit of noise. My favorite was the 10-12 year old kid who kept yelling "shut up!" every time we'd cheer for a goal.

Philly fans are a mixed bag. You'll get a lot of the dickweeds the city is famous for who pour beer on children in the bathroom because they're in a road team jersey. And you'll also get the STH and families that are very reasonable and fun to talk with.
