Jonathan Quick May Control Pucks with his Mind

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puc...?urn=nhl-wp888

"There were 111 saves made by five different goaltenders in the NHL on Monday night. Jonathan Quick(notes) of the Los Angeles Kings made 27 of them in a shootout win against the Calgary Flames. One of them seems to have defied the laws of physics and the logic of hockey."

(Video in link - it was that ridiculous save on Iginla's shot in the 1st. Fox said it caught part of Quick's blocker, but it still took a crazy trajectory.)

Quick is possessed!

Damn, that IS strange. The knob of his stick isn't near it when it changes direction. It's almost like it hit a glass wall or something.

Edit: I re-watched it a few times, and I think that it hits the ice at such an angle that the bounce caused a change of direction. Pretty damn lucky.

So you're saying he doesn't really control pucks with his mind?

Simple - the shot is on an angle it hits inside of Quicks pads and changes directions so when you slow the video down it looks like it should be going forward but it is actually travelling parallel to the goal line.

Or....it changes direction when it bounces on the ice.

Now that we know Quickie has that power do you think we can get him to help our young stud defensmen from giving up outnumbered chances?

I want to ask the "it hit something and changed direction" group a question.

At what age did your parents tell you there wasn't a Santa Claus? (providing you believe that there is or isn't a santa)

I say that after reviewing the shot over and over that it is clearly a case of telepathic manipulation. The people watching the game all guided the puck away from the net by sheer willpower. NOOOOOOOO is a powerful word. Once in a great while we sinc up and will the puck either into or our out of the net depending on our greatest telepathic output.

Or an invisible gnome made the puck move but it CLEARLY wasn't the result of the puck redirecting off of any natural surface.

The thing that upsets me is why can't he do this all the time? does he lose focus? Can he teach Stoll to do the same thing at the other end? Stoll shots wide, but wait it makes a right hand turn and surprises everyone.

You have to remember he is young, his powers will only get better as he gets older and gains wisdom. Can he teach Stoll? Yes but it depends on Stolll rather or not it will work. We have barely begun to scratch the surface of what our brains are capable of producing. I have only scratched the surface of my brain once by accident and it produced some very nasty results but the one positive is that I have gained the wisdom of not doing the same thing again.

All hail Jambi.
