A defintite no. Only one city has more championships in American pro sports history than Boston, and that one has twice the teams.

that's the problem. They always got some very good players, but we couldn't compete with the salaries of the States, and we'd always end up trading them away for nothing.

Whenever we started having a star, we'd lose it. The public got fed up eventually, and just stopped attending.

Seriously. We've had our share of heartache, but since 2001 people hate us because we're so successful! It's awesome being a Boston sports fan.

In that case, I guess I'll one day jump on the BeanTown bandwagon.

Except for the Bruins. Can't convert from my religion, you see.

As I recall, though, they had an excellent team in 1994 and really seemed primed for a serious run at a championship -- but then the strike came and nixed all that, of course. Then they began dismantling in 1995, and to me that seemed like the beginning of the end for them in Montreal. To this day, I'm still thankful to Jim Beattie for trading Pedro Martinez here, instead of trading him 200 miles to the south.

Nothing weird there. I love both cities and I was a big fan of the Expos but my hockey team is the Bruins. :-)

I wasn't an baseball fan at the time, but from what I heard from local sport commentator who were fans of the Expos at the time, the general impression is that most of the league could see the '94 lockout coming up, and most of the league wasn't really trying to play that seriously compared to usual, except for the Expos, who were a team of young players who wanted to rack up their stats to get better contracts.

I don't know how much faith you can put into that assessment, but it is indeed possible that the '94 chance was just a fluke.

They were actually first overall... I'm still traumatized.

Oh sure you can. We'll have an official ceremony down here where you get completely dunked in the water and come out reborn with a spoked B on your chest. Of course, instead of a lake or stream like you see on TV, we'll have to dunk you in Boston Harbor.

Don't worry, we'll do it as far away from the mouth of the Charles as we can. Takes some time to get acclimated to the dirty water, we wouldn't want the new initiate to get hurt.

big , big game here , a win for boston here and i think we stay 3rd overall , just win baby .. please don't come out like they did against toronto . the bruins should know that this game is probably there biggest game of the year and when faced with situations like this they usually come out passive, we shall see if this bruins team WANTS IT!

LET'S GO BRUINS !

The Bruins needs to show up. Another flop against a division opponent will be unforgivable this season.

Lots of skating, net crashing, and if the situation calls for it, throw downs.

Bruins need this win worse than the Habs for a myriad of reasons we are all too familiar with.
