The Toronto Maple Leafs are also expected to be well represented. James Reimer will likely be invited to make the trip to Slovakia as one of Canada's three goaltenders, however, where he fits...1,2 or 3 depends on the availability of others.
Leafs defencemen Dion Phaneuf and Luke Schenn may both get the call this weekend, but depending on the availability of other defencemen, it's possible only one of the two will make the team.
Among the many players who have expressed an interest in playing for Canada, Edmonton's Jordan Eberle and Devin Dubnyk are both eager - as is New Jersey's Travis Zajac.
Sources say Canada has not yet identified its head coach, but could have the position filled within a day or two.
Hockey Canada is expected to name the majority of its roster early next week.
As I already mentioned in your prospects thread, this is very far from confirmed and his chances of making the final roster could get pretty slim when we have some of the NHL D-men comming in if they donīt make the play-offs/are out after 1st round. But his chances are hard to judge until we see what he shows in the two games against Austria this weekend.....
Him actually playing at the IHWC will not be confirmed until the Slovak federation releases the final roster and he is on it (which wonīt happen at least fro about two more weeks) and he is currently very far from being a lock for the final roster, especially if/when weīll have the NHL Dīs comming in, plus there are 4-5 European Dīs that have a much better shot than he does for the final roster.
I donīt think that person who wrote that article has much idea about how the European teams preparation for the IHWC works (much differen than Canada/USA who just pretty much name a final roster), they start preparing about a month before the actual championship and often almost the whole team that they had at the start is replaced by the start of the tourney (with players comming in after the end of European leagues play-offs and NHL regular season).
I can 1000% assure you that Mikuš so far has only been named to the second preparation camp, for all I know he might not even be with the team next week in games against Sweden or he could make the final roster, that will however depend on how the situation in the NHL develops and on whether he impresses the Slovak couch enough during the preparations.
And ACC, the tournament starts at the 29th of April.
