Man-games lost to injury - Rangers ranked 10th

I thought we would be at least in the top 5.

It's been a rough year around the league. I thought we'd be higher too, but there have been a TON of injuries this year.

I wish I could link this to my co-worker that never shuts up about how no team could survive with the amount of man-games-lost the NYR have had.

Some of our key players have been injured though. What other teams have had key players injured? Obviously the Devils with Parise and the Islanders with Okposo and Streit.

Actually not that big a difference in MGL between #5 and #11.

Considering the type of season they're having, the only high-ranked one that really surprises me is Vancouver.

Dipietro is quite a bit of that for the Isles also and Brodeur missed a bit of time, and Salvador has yet to play a game this season for NJ. We've lost Frolov and Drury for extended periods of time, but we haven't had anyone miss every game like Salvador.

It's over 150 games between Salvador and Parise. Frolov still managed to play 43 games, so it hasn't been that bad for us in terms of long-term injuries. It's absolutely stunning though, so many injuries around the league, what a terrible luck.

rough year, i think we were the hardest hit by injurys to key players while a lot of other teams had players on LTIR.

No way. Just look at the Islanders. They were hit way worse than we were. Okposo (one of their top forwards), Streit (their #1 D-man), and DiPietro (their #1 goalie) missed most of the season.

You think we'd be having a solid season if Dubinsky, Staal, and Hank were out most of the year?

Their blueline was devastated this year.

The amount of injuries should lead the league to try to do something. This is way too much.

I don't even consider Dipietro an important part of the Islanders team any more. When was the last time they relied on him to win anything? Its almost expected that he is going to be injured.

It should be a huge wake up call, all injuries are going up, especially severe ones. But hey, old time hockey, Eddie Shore, Toe Blake !

Injuries are happening to every team, and they are just part of the equation. When all is accounted for, we should be a playoff team this year in this conference.

Keep in mind the Rangers also lost some of their most important players to injuries.

Don't want the numbers to make anyone less impressed with how we handled the injury riddled 1st half of the season. We really overcame.

Impressive only because we got to see more Sauer and Prust and others step into roles they can fill nicely, those are the positives. But with the trash below us and the very injured teams infront, we have been middle of the pack ! Wooooo lets throw a party, hats, horns, and everything !

Did all these teams have such condensed schedules in the first couple months like we did? That could account for lots of wear and tear.

Yeah, no reason to consider this a big feat for the team when we've maintained a playoff spot with a team of rookies, retreads and bottom 9 talent. Not at all!

The only team up there that impresses me more than what we did is Pittsburgh.

The difference between #5 and #10 is only 24 games.

I'm surprised Habs are so low.

With all the *****ing they do about it you'd think their AHL team has been playing the whole season.

That's true. Maybe I just read too many threads with Habs fans posting in them.
