With another pair of back-to-backs this weekend, safe money says the Caps will need a win tonight against a team playing a strong spoiler role at the moment to have a realistic shot at toppling Philadelphia and landing home ice for the playoffs.

This has potential to be a blowout ala the 5-0 Edmonton game, will not be happy if we only win by 1 or 2.

I don't see why. Ottawa has been playing very well since its goaltending solidified, guys started competing for jobs next year, and all the pressure evaporated. They are adopting a classic spoiler role for the last ten games of the season. They took out a red-hot Rangers team last night. Fortunately, they ought to be fatigued, but that's about the only upside. Ottawa is a tough out these days, much like the Islanders. They are 6-4 over their last ten games, standing toe to toe with some of the better teams in the conference.

I concur with Drake. The Senators have been playing great hockey and I can totally see this game ending up in a loss in that the Caps have a habit of over looking teams.

Hopefully they come ready to play tonight.

Does anyone know off the top of their head how many points the caps need to clinch the Division?

Cheers

They need their points gained plus Tampa's points lost from here on out to equal at least 12.

While the actual number is 12, it's really more like 11, since the Caps will most likely have the first tiebreaker (currently 39 regulation wins to Tampa's 33) and have already locked up the second tiebreaker (head-to-head with Tampa).

I'll be happy as long as they get 2 points, i don care if its by a 1 goal or 4 (obviously 4 is preferable), Ottawa now is not what Ottawa was 2 month ago, that said, 4-1 Caps!

Also, wouldn't mind see Sturm score at some point in Caps jersey.

Senators played a tough game last night. Caps are not feeling the pressure. Caps win. Caps wont get the 1 spot anyway. The best chance to effect their playoff outcome would be by beating Montreal the nxt night

I have a good feeling about this one. Expecting a nice 3-1 finish from our boys. Johansson, Laich, Semin.

Given the Caps scoring tendencies in the first period I don't think that will be a problem.

So we're 3-1 on the road trip....I said before it started I would be happy with 3 wins. Even happier now considering who's out injured.

Everything from here on out is gravy...

No doubt this is a game they should win and tomorrow night looks like a tougher night...

Shock the world boys and go 5-1. Someone send Semin a meeting request for tonight's game....just to make sure he knows his attendance is required.
