I think he's a good fit for my bottom pairing. I like the toughness he brings and again another source of Leadership and Summit Series credentials.

I'm not sure why he fell so far, he was voted in as a MLD All-Star? and several other MLD defenseman were drafted ahead of him.

Thanks for the kind words about the Richards pick. I've been hoping he'd drop but I thought someone would scoop him up for sure with all the talk about players just like him.

For what it's worth, I think Richards is a better pick than Toews in the ATD, but I think Toews is the better player. Make sense? Not really, I guess!

Anyways, with that, my starting line up is complete:

Bun Cook - Adam Oates - Jarome Iginla
Valery Kamensky - Bobby Smith - Danny Gare
Don Marshall - Don Luce - Mario Tremblay
Dennis Hextall - Mike Richards - Cliff Koroll

Red Horner - Dit Clapper
Carol Vadnais - Jack Crawford
Behn Wilson - Joe Jerwa

Glenn Hall

I can't say I'm thrilled with it; although I think I'm comparing it to a 30 team draft. I like my first and fourth lines, am content with my third line, and absolutely hate my second line. Defense seems very average but fairly physical, and goaltending is good to great. I think the team fits reasonably well with Don Cherry, but I do worry about playoff success. There's not a ton of it.

Actually it does! haha, for the role they play as of right now for the ATD Richards is more useful.

Random thought - willie Mitchell went too high but he is actually a fairly prolific penalty killer from a historical perpective.

He absolutely belongs, just not as high as he went. I got a steal in the last AAA draft...

This may sound silly, but it just occured to me the draft is on the very slightly unfair sight draft position wise because round number is odd, meaning first overall gets both the first picks in the first and last rounds, and that technically, the higher pick the better value your picks on a whole are.

Not sure if anyone cares enough since at this stage things can vary immensely, and the difference would lie largely in spares, but I thought it worth noting.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I definitely don't care.

If any trades left, LF, I would trade you my 24th rounder for your 25th just for figuring that out.

I think it's mostly the advantage of having 5 guys instead of 4 to win the puck. So guys who play more PK relative to to PP are at a disadvantage in faceoff percentage.

hmm. so then there is a logical answer. The awarding of a faceoff win is based on more than just what the centers do. I didn't think it would be.

Yes, face-off win goes to the center of the team who wins possession. I never thought of higher wins on the PP, but it males sense.

Are PMs really necessary at this point?

Things are going fast and first thing I do on hfboards is going to the ATD draft list anyway.

Really good point.

And apart from having the extra man on the PP vs. PK, just the difference in ones linemates vs. the opposition linemates will affect faceoff % as well.

When the op is updated next, can someone please note which picks are set to be auto skipped for the next few rounds?

For sure, don't know why I hadn't thought of that.
