Kings vs. Avalanche - 03/26/11 - POSTGAME THOUGHTS & TIDBITS

Very bitter tasting two points... Hopefully we can get some of the youngsters some NHL playoff experience at least... Everyone hope the Saskatoon Blades fall on their face. They need to go down! Onto the next game... Go Kings...

Recover fully in the offseason Kopitar. We need you to prepare to set another record in another 330 games...

Good two points.

Great time to see Smyth step up. It's going to be tough, but this team can do it!

Not a bad guess but Dater is a hack reporter. There's a reason all Avs fans hate his reporting.

He may be right, because it's not hard to guess that it's either the knee or ankle, but I'd doubt he has any source on that.

See you at training camp Kopitar! Come back even stronger.

Painful win, but this team is still built on defense and can still put points on the board.

The fact of the matter is that Schenn isn't ready to come up and fill any first line center in the NHL shoes let alone one of the top ten in the game. The Kings have kept their hands out of the cookie jar with him for a reason and why would they chance ruining all of that time invested in developing him only to say "our playoff chances are all on your shoulders kid. Sorry it has to happen this way but you either have to produce at a star level or your gonna look bad oh, and we know that you aren't projected to be a number one center in the nhl but we gotta have what we gotta have regardless of the outcome".

When his team is eliminated call him up like they had planned on doing and if Kopitar is still out then of course you put Schenn and or anyone else who might be able to handle it in his spot, then the only pressure on the kid is the same as it is on him anywhere else you would put him.

Lets start with a simple question, is Schenn NHL ready? Absolutely, several pundits have said so and I agree completely. Is he ready to be a team leader? Questionable, he has that type of personality but without experience he is going to have a hard time finding followers amoung the vets on the team. Is he ever going to be a number one center in the NHL? Time will tell, I think that he might be able to down the road.

Is he ready to step in and fill Kopitar's shoes today and lead us to a cup? No, if he were Crosby then who knows but he isn't.
The point is, when you say that Schenn CAN'T get the job done on that unit, is pure speculation on your part. You don't know and I don't know until we both see it, and he is the only GOOD option we have if Kopitar is out for an extended period of time.

Thats one of my biggest pet peeves is when people speculate on prospects, and say that they "aren't ready to do something." How would you know until you actually see them perform?

When it comes to injuries, I trust Dancing boy more than anyone.

Again, nothing substantial has been reported by anyone. Some radio report had the ankle injury. Looked like an ankle to me, just like Williams shoulder injury.

Depressing win.

Let's just hope we can get home ice versus the Coyotes or Predators in the first round.

So happy for that guy. You could see the huge look of relief/elation on his face when he was out there for that. Love seeing the unheralded guys get some points and recognition.

Maybe people should stop jumping to conclusions and quit listening to unreliable sources like Dater and Barry

I just heard about Kopitar. Was it pretty bad? I am reading the posts above and no one seems optimistic. Hopefully it is not as bad as everyone thinks.

I all seriousness, I feel bad for the team and all the fans if he is seriously hurt.

Very unfortunate about Kopi. The team stepped up when they needed to.

Doesn't really matter what the injury is, he is done for the year with only three weeks left.

No way does he not have some type of injury that will keep him out for weeks.

I just hope he will be back for training camp. Knee injuries could take 9 months.
