I would certainly consider Crawford, and I am mildly surprised he got canned. He has a ton of NHL experience, and he won a lot of games in Dallas this year with a bit of a patchwork lineup and a very unstable ownership situation. Dallas had more points than the Rangers, yet the Rangers play this week and Crawford gets canned because his team lost a play-in game. Go figure.

My theory is this - if you are going to fire Clouston, then you have to bring in an experienced, veteran coach, someone who doesn't require the on-the-job training Clouston needed. Let someone else roll the dice on a rookie head coach. The Senators should focus on guys like Hitchcock, Crawford, etc.

Players hate him and he doesn't win in the playoffs. Not a guy you want around Ottawa.

Inexperienced coach, veteran coach, systems coach, players coach, they all get fired if the team doesn't win enough.

I don't know Crawford's entire story, but I do know his situation in LA. Anything I heard/read is that he was excellent at getting the very best out of players for short periods of time but after a season or so he wears on them and the players quit on him.

the Coles notes from a Kings fan is that they wish Terry Murray had been hired first because he puts a lot of faith in young players and is good at developing them while Crawford can get a lot out of a team but doesn't show enough faith in the young players and wears the vets out (kind of reminds me of Hitch)

I'd take Crawford over essentially anyone mentioned yet besides Muller or Ruff.

He would certainly be on top of the list of quality candidates. But I don't think he'd get fired unless the Bruins got swept in the first round.

Hitchcock is definitely a good coach, very smart hockey man, but his personality can be tough for players to deal with.

He is old school in many ways, and that just doesn't seem to work any longer.

That said, every guy mention has some potential drawback, lack of experience, age, personality, etc, etc.

Hopeful Murray will find another guy like Bylsma, a coach the players respect and want to winf for.

Marc Crawford please!

Dallas' 95 points would've been good enough to make the playoffs in the East. He's also a cup winner.

Literally the whole arena would chant Fire Cameron when he coached, just about every game.

Ted Nolan

Does anyone think there's a chance Bmurrrr give Nolan a look for the coaching position? I seem to remember him taking some pretty average teams to the playoffs.

On a related note, does anyone have any info on why Nolan seems to have been blackballed by NHL teams?

I am not sure why it seems hard for Nolan to find a job in the NHL, as he is a pretty successful coach, maybe he doesn't want to

Yes I know, I'm actually really hoping that this helps me find out what the deal is with Nolan and why he doesn't already have a job.

If my memory serves me, wasn't he the last coach to get the Isles into the playoffs?

There was an incident when he was the coach in Buffalo.

My recollection is that he went to the owner to try to get the GM (Muckler!) fired and get the job himself. Muckler made it very public knowledge throughout the league.

How many GMs would hire a guy with that history?

Outstading coach, and yes he wants a nhl coaching job. As for hm being hired by Ottawa who knows, I hope they would consider him.
And yes he coached the islanders to the playoffs, knocking out the leafs haha, and that islanders team was not exactly a really strong team.
