+SO's: MAF has been studly this year (7-2 record), Neal and Kovy continue to light the lamp when the game's on the line
+Lovejoy: We're in an awesome situation right now where the 6/7 defenders on our team are MORE than earning their spots in the lineup...and they're both rookies!
-Had to take Florida of all teams to the shootout
Edit: Whoops, flashback to the old pens.nhl.com board circa like six years ago with the GBU in the title instead of +/-
+ with Fleury playing the way he has been, and the rumors of Crosby returning on the 5th, it's hard for me not to get my hopes up about what could be in these playoffs, never mind next season's potential.
This is was a good game for anyone really...90% of the shots taken missed the net, sloppy offensive zone play, sloppy defensive play, transactions were meh at best, and everyone just looked a step slow.
MAF won this game for us. The team in front of him that played today should not be giving themselves any pats on the back.
Rupp, Adams, Comrie, Asham, Staal, Kennedy, Kovalev...were all invisible today. Kunitz and Neal looked okay, Conner made a few things happen...defense was a lot of meh...
But we got the 2 points. I guess in hindsight thats all that really matters. However...our lack of goals and our inability to hit the net should be worrisome...
even: Neal, Kovy; solid but snakebit. But coming thru in the shoot out
-Conner, Talbot, Staal and TK need to finish
--- Transition defense. FLA had about 36 odd man breaks, most of which they screwed up; in the others MAF saved our ass. If we play like this defensively vs. a playoff team we lose easy.
I only saw the first period and heard the second on the radio in the car, but I'm not surprised. From the little I saw/heard it seemed like Florida generally sucking is the main reason we took this to yet another shootout.
Neal needs to start scoring, because "Snake Bitten" is becoming very trite
As long as he gives the same effort he has given us so far, I'll be happy. He hustles on every shifts and contribute on both sides of the puck. I'd like him to "produce" more offensively, but I'm not worried. Once Sid comes back, he'll put up stats.
