If Minnesota is picking after #10 or so, and he's still on the board, I'd hope we'd take chance on him. I don't think we will, but we should.

I hope the Leafs take a chance on him if he is there #16-20 just like Tarasenko.

He's a big body and he's putting up solid numbers. Going to gain a lot of hype leading up to the draft. Any team looking for a player like Jordan Staal is going to be thrilled to have him.

Jordan Staal is not exactly the comp I would make...

Lemieux, take away playmaking ability. But he is still VERY young.

6'4'', insane reach, speed and ability...

His hot streak aside he is the closest thing to game breaking ability Russia's had since Ovi/Malkin days.

Really? Mario? And don't give me this Mario lite BS line either. If you want to call him Mario lite just call him Martin Hanzal.

Who wants to play a draft day drinking game? Lets do a shot for every spot this guy falls. My money is on no one left standing.

Perhaps, but he doesn't show it. And comparing to Lemieux, he doesn't have any playmaking abilities...

Maybe he meant Claude?

Rick Nash seems to be the most common comparison.

He's easily going to be right there in the mix with Barkov and MacKinnon as the best players from this draft...

The thing that leads me to rather want those 2 above him, is the annoying frustration of the fact you have literally have little control over his destiny for 2 years. Now the interesting part will be at the combine and the interviews, I guarantee every team will interview him. He could be very cheeky and be able to pick the team that drafts him by telling the ones he doesn't want to go to that he doesn't want to really come to the NHL.

not easy to find a worse comparison.

Long reach is probably the only thing they have in common, lol

Ye - really! And don't give me this 'draft determines how good he is BS'. What if he goes 26th like Kuznetsov? That's ********.

I don't really care about where he goes in the draft, nor does it really matter or determine anything.

He just comes across as someone even more mobile and speedier than Rick Nash. It's like Rick Nash with an afterburner.

I'm not talking about draft position. I'm talking about comparing this kid to one of the best to EVER play the game wouldn't discribe him because you would have to say he has "X" attribute just like Lemieux except he's only 10% as good as Mario in that area. Which really doesn't discribe the player at all. You would be closer to discribing him as Martin Hanzal.

Martin Hanzal made his debute in Czech league at age 18 and scored the whole 1 point in 19 games. Yeah, good example.

Rick Nash for sure. The more I watch of Nash and Nichushkin, the more similarities I see.

Not the point. WOOSH! Right over your head. I bet he plays closer to Hanzal than Mario as an NHL player. But It has nothing to do with Hanzal being the ideal compareable.

I'm seeing young Malkin right there, shocked if he goes outside top3. I mean the draft is deep but this guy might be the real gem out there.

- 6'4" and can REALLY wheel.
- Very good natural "hockey strength"
- Looks so dangerous off the rush and can work the boards
- Looked good at the WJC, apparently dominated a recent U18 tournament and now influencing games in the KHL playoffs.

I'd bring a couple extra shirts to the draft combine if I was him. Teams will be grilling him like crazy in the interviews as he's an incredibly intriguing prospect.

Do NHL teams bring in interpreters when they interview Russian prospects or do they rely upon their Russian scouts to do the talking?

Typically the player has someone with him. Sometimes teams do bring their own guy though.

That sounds like it could be quite problematic. How would the NHL team tell if the answers they are getting truly reflect what the player is saying, especially considering the very personal nature of some of the questions they typically ask at the interviews?
