I don't really care either way, I just think you missed the point of what the scout said.

Should be a facinating draft, an interesting off-season it will be. Can't wait... I'm still picking Mackinnon as the best player available, and then Jones, and Drouin at number 3.

I'd bet there's a better chance of Nichushkin going in the 11-20 range than the top 10 range.

GMs will look at the Kuznetsov situation and worry about not getting him until 4 years after he's drafted, if at all.

So what position is he playing? I've seen him listed as a RW, but thought I saw him playing C at the WJC. Also thought I heard he played all 3 forward positions. Is this true? Does he look more comfortable playing a certain position? Would really like the Oilers to trade up for this kid if he slides out of the top 5, that is IF he can play C/LW.

i dont agree
kuz is not ready yet (physically at least) and skillwise he's a top 5 talent of his draft chosen in the late first round who at 22 will be playing in the nhl. i don't see much negatives here.
with valera things are different, hes ready but you cant have him for another two years, what a bummer

It depends on the interviews really.

Kuznetsov will be leaving at the end of next season, and I would be surprised if Nichushkin was to sign an extension after that. Waiting 2 years isn't hugely significant.

I still think he drops to 7 or 8, but I don't see him getting outside the top 10. If he does, I'd hope the Blues are offering something significant for the pick.

Of course he is ready. Don't be silly.

Kuznetsov not coming over has everything to do with Sochi.

What do you guys think, should he stay with Traktor or go to U18?

All obvious things aside (U18 not being very important at all...), I think that if FHR gets their way, they are going to piss him off for the future and his relationship with future NT. The kid has a chance of a lifetime and they want to take it away from him? These things are not easily forgotten.

It could also hurt his motivation and will among other things.

I hope he stays and wins the cup with Traktor. Experience alone will be HUGE, why wouldn't FHR want that?

Rules are rules (and FHR doens't set Laws!) but one thing I know for sure is that forcing someone against their will is always the wrong thing.

There is 1% chance of that happening, and that 1% is the risk that Nichushkin gets some massive injury or accident before the draft. Scouts already been on record saying they don't care if they have to wait.

Better waiting on Nichushkin than taking Darnell Nurse.

The best thing about Nichushkin is there's still a lot of room for growth and improvement.
Big, lanky players like him generally take longer to develop. If you watch him he still looks awkward and 'wobbly' at times.

Is he physical at all? Or does he just use his size to protect the puck but never hit anything?

It was a nice pass too. No-look from behind the net for the one-timer.

watching Traktor-Dynamo now... He looks like the most dominating Russian draftee. And he is doing it again man.

Most teams that are drafting top 7 have the time to let him play in the KHL for 2 seasons, in the long run it will be good for his development.
Here is an article where prospects are rated, he is 5th.

Nichushkin stated that team of his choice in the NHL is Philadelphia. looks like he has good chance to end up here, if things proceed to go as they're going currently

At least he's shown some interest in the NHL! That's good news.

Where did you hear that from?

Any link?

The Flyers have never drafted a Russian in the 1st round, so this could be interesting with the Flyers potentially having a top 6 pick.
