He doesn't seem to possess any vision for his teammates when I've watched him and his hockey sense is hard to judge because he's so selfish and has shown a complete inability to pass the puck.

The only reason people say he looks like a young Malkin is because he's big and skates similar. He has none of Malkin's vision, passing and ability to score further than 5 feet from the net.
You realize that's a highlight reel compilation, right?

Not shown are Nichushkin's solid passes and 2-way play.....things that aren't necessarily 'sexy' but still very effective.

#Nichushkin tells @rsportru he's leaving Russia next season. Claims Dynamo is tearing up his contract. Uh?

Great news for his draft stock. KHL contract termination will throw all the previous mock drafts out of the window.

bad news for fans of teams hoping he would drop a bit out of the top 10 and their team can scoop him up. lol

I wonder if Tampa might take a chance at #3 if he was committed to coming over.

If this is true Nichushkin will be top-5.

Either to TB or CAR, most likely.

If NHL teams have some common sense left, he will be a top 5 pick after that decision. So, the question for me is: Nashville, Carolina or higher?

I personally disagree with him being 3rd but the tampa head scout seems very high on him so this will only add fuel to the fire

As a Lightning fan if this is true then yes I would take him over Drouin.

Are you not sure about Barkov, or just don't count on him ?

Knowing the Lightning I think they either pick the remaining of Jones/MacKinnon/Drouin or Nichushkin. I like Barkov but I don't think the Lightning select him.

Some rumours around Tampa that he's the #1 in Tampa's list so... can see us taking him

If any team that drafts him sends him to the AHL, he'll be right back in Russia.

Kids not gonna play for $60k when he could make 20x that amount in KHL.

Supposedly he has interest in NSH. From the twitter account and I would be interested to see if NSH would make a move to trade for Burmistrov in WPG.

Or maybe he hopes to one day play in the NHL? I don't understand why people on here think russian players only care about how much money they can make

He said he had no interest in the AHL or CHL previously, so that's probably the reason why.

VALERI NICHUSHKIN
“He’s a guy with all kinds of talent. He’s big, he’s a tremendous skater, but in February at the Under-18 tournament, that was maybe the most dominant performance I’ve seen at any of those Under-18 or World Junior tournaments. He absolutely took over the tournament. He was good on the forecheck, he was finishing checks, he was making plays or scored big goals in the third period when his team was behind, he never quit on a shift and he was just spectacular. I think when you see that potential and the level he played at in the Russian men’s league, you see a very good prospect.”
Caveat: “He’s got great one-on-one individual skills with the puck, and that was maybe the problem with him, is that you thought maybe he didn’t see the other options and he didn’t play with other players real well.”
Comparable NHL Players: Alex Ovechkin or Evgeni Malkin

Yeah, if he can come over next year, I can see Carolina grabbing him. Especially with Semin locked up long term on the team.

So he's gonna jump straight to the nhl after 6 points in 18 khl games? he has the size and speed already but very limited small ice experience and questionable hockey sense.

he's been great in some international tourneys but thats after stepping down from higher quality competition

i took him leaving the khl now that he would do what it takes ,not force his way onto an roster with a khl card in his back pocket .if thats the case i think its a good move on dynamos part as there is a higher chance he'll be back there in the long run than if he kept developping there for 2 more years

While its good news that he doesnt have a KHL contract next yr, its not going to eliminate the usual "Russian factor" because he can still always bolt for the KHL later. Teams are still going to be cautious with drafting him because they could get burned in 3 yrs if he doesnt feel he's being used properly. I was feeling like he was gonna slide to Tarasenko type territory (mid round/#15) but now I think he could go top 10.

I think any team taking him will probably look to put him into the lineup right away at the NHL level. My gut says that he ends up going 8th to Buffalo and they try to pair up Grigorenko & Nichushkin together long term.

If he's looking for immediate ice time and happens to slide a little, the perfect destination for Nichushkin would be in New Jersey, playing the left wing on a line with Andrei Loktionov and Ilya Kovalchuk.

Just saying
