I'd like the Oilers to draft this kid. A future center with 2nd line potential and size is a need. The relationship to Yakupov and Zharkov is a bonus.

I'd even trade up if needed.

I'm not sure how valuable a player with blinders on can really be at the NHL level. Throw is the risk associated with his being a Russian player, and I wouldn't draft him anywhere near as high as most are discussing him. I see him as a huge gamble because of his nationality and his apparent complete lack of hockey sense (if he's got it, he sure hasn't shown it in the games I've seen).
Come on he obviously not a Gretzky when it comes to passing but i think u are little to hard here He is a 17 year old kid, and i agree he can learn use his teammate a little bit more. But for your statement, today he played on Traktors first line together with Kuznetsov in KHL, and you just don't do it with a complete lack of hockey sense

I'd say he's a winger from what I saw at the WJC.

Not a center by any strech of imagination. And certainly not projected as some 2nd liner.

This guy is clearly gifted to be a superstars. He may never get there of course, but unlike others he has all the tools that he needs.

Let's just say that since I've followed Russian prospects close- Svitov, Chistov, Cherepanov, Tarasenko, Kuznetsov, Burmistrov, Yakupov and Grigorenko didn't look as dominant as this kid does for his age.

Anyway, don't take my word for it as "hype" just go watch the kind of things he did at WJC for his age and how he did them. He was everywhere at times. He single handedly decided 2 most important games (US and Canada) @ 17 years old! Older Yakupov and Grigorenko could not do that. Not even Kuznetsov at age 17.

Does he have a nice release? Didn't see him snipe any in either the SSS or the WJC. He has a power game and he can sure skate but his playmaking and shot did not shine through in those viewings.

This 2 were valuable KHL top liners at the same age.

Yakupov and Grigs were playing with guys 2 years older than them.

Nichushkin is certainly a talented player, but him being more "dominant" than some guys you listed is just not truth. It's like he's a new shiny toy, and is much more intresting than previous ones. Next year you will enlighten everybody how Nikolishin or Goldobin is the most talented player evar.

Oh, boy. I can't believe I'm agreeing with Garl.

I do like Nichushkin a lot though. Let's see him light up the Under-18s before proclaiming him a future star.

All he says is he just wants to do is keep playing and not talk to scouts for now.

Basically he just wants to focus on hockey and not worry about the draft.

while focusing on hockey, today he scored again off his favourite move despite mishandling the puck on the first touch.

Hard to say. Talent is obviously there, but these young guys are so unpredictable.
