i know that amonte and leclair are available, but i also heard on leafs lunch that JR is available, is this true, and what would it take to get him in blue and white.

Um, Amonte and Leclair will only become avaliable if we buy them out. It'll probably happen, but it hasn't yet.

And as for Roenick, he's either retiring (which is unlikely), or else he's got another 2 years with the Flyers.

I believe he has the option to get out of the contract if Flyers is not a Stanely Cup contender or something like that...

I don't think he'll retire and all indications are that he is quite happy in Philly.

I'd take Sundin for Roenick straight up. jk

Well, I'd love to see how that clause is written.

Roenick has a no trade clause until 2005-06, so we'd have to trade him to a contender for him to waive the NTC, and we would never do that.

I like Eskin, even though he gets a little too mileage from having morons call up and ridiculing them. "Hey, Howard! Lemme tell you why A.I. is the greatest player in the NBA!" "YOU DOPE!"

1. Eskin on Hockey :lol

2. I wouldn't be shocked though. It would be feasable to trade him somewhere out west.

This was posted on here weeks ago, but the thread was locked because the guy didn't have proof of his source:

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=82455

Posted by Flyers dom NHL:

"i was at a graduation party the other day talkin to rick curran (a well known nhl agent) and he said the flyers told roencik to give them a list of teams he would be like to be traded to. he also said amonte and lecalir will definitely be gone and recchi will definitely be back."

He was wrong about Recchi it seems, but Curran is his agent so he was optimistic Recchi would be signed. But he reported the same thing as Eskin about JR.

The Leafs would have to be contenders first, not a bunch of washed up has-beens coached by Mr. Neanderthal himself. Enjoy Belfour when he's a 43 year old sieve making 7.5 mil. :lol

Why would Clarke want to trade Roenick? We'd be left without a first line center.

Now granted, if we sign Zhamnov then alright, but I'd much rather have Roenick than Zhamnov.

JR doesn't get along well with Hitchcock. His battles with him are disruptive to the dressing room. Recchi acted as a buffer at times, but with him gone, who is going to do that?

No, he's a center. He just played RW after Zhamnov was acquired. He's been a center all of his pro career.

As it stands (and not assuming Zhamnov is returning) he' still our best scoring centerman.

I think he's much better at Center. Roenick was only at RW because Zhamnov can't play wing at all.

He's better at center but he should stay at RW. They can not build a line around him anymore. He's far too injury prone.

That's why I'd rather have him at Center. He's going to get hurt doing winger work on the boards.

Regardless, I want him to stay in Philadelphia.

Roenick is a Flyer and will be staying a Flyer. I cannot see why the Flyers wouldn't be a contender for next season... they still have almost all the same players except a few ones and they went to get Stevenson and Knuble.

Eskin says Flyers asking JR for 10 teams he's accept a trade to

On Sports Final Eskin is quoted as saying the flyers looking to cut payroll asked JR for a list of 10 teams he would accept a trade too. Do you guys think this is true? And if so, are they just attempting to cut payroll or do they feel JR's best days are behind him? One last point. Do you feel as though that after the puck to the jaw incident, could he have angered Flyers management when he went on national TV and was stating he may retire? Just thinking out loud.

You have to take into account Roenick's super ego.

The way I see it Clarke has Primeau pegged as the #1 center with Zhamnov and Handzus following. He's said Zhamnov is a perfect center between Primeau and Handzus, and he certainly doesn't think Handzus is a #1 so he must think Primeau is the #1. I think he signed Knuble for Primeau with Kapanen on the left side. Then take into account Clarke wanting to sign Recchi but can't. If he did sign (which now won't happen probably) that would leave Roenick at the #3 RW (moot). So unless Roenick would have moved to the left side, I think Clarke saw him as expendable. So I think the stage is definitely set for a departure.
