His past 8 or so games have been superb (maybe due to the extra ice time w/o Pronger)
but i really think he's just beginning to 'get it'
hes moving his feet much better than earlier in the season.
His energy level has been waaaay higher
hes been hitting more, and lets face it he can be a big guy when he wants to be.
any thoughts? I think he's playing the best hockey he's played for us now. Which is pretty awesome, seeing as we re-signed him after he finished his WORST season with us.
He seems to go through stretches where he is either an elite looking defenseman for 10 games, then he goes cold and you barely notice him, once he locks it in all the time he will be really good. "Consistency" is probably an enemy to this team lately, but one thing they are consistent with is showing up when it truly counts
exactly, and I cant remember seeing these "flashes" of awesomeness since we played pittsburgh and he took a puck to the eye.
Im really excited to see what a playoff atmosphere can add to his game, and especially to see if this is a streak or the real deal
Did you miss the playoffs last year? Coburn's play as one of the anchors of our top 4 put us in the finals. IIRC, he had more ice time in a lot of the games in the finals than Kimmo did. He was a horse. He's stepped it up in the last week, I wish more of his teammates would.
I'm a big fan of Coburn's since his days with Portland and would like nothing better than for him to become a complete animal back there. It can take a dman a long time to put it all together, I still have faith that he can.
He seems to always do this in the last sprint of the season and leading into the playoffs. There are many times where he looks like plain **** during the regular season, but he doesn't get enough credit for how he turns it up in the playoffs.
