Do not want Hamilton with a top #7 pick, if he's the only option at #8... so be it.

I want us to get Couturier. Or Landeskog. Or Larson. I don't want RNH.

The other guys would be fine, too, but if we can get one of these guys (through winning the lottery, or trading other picks, I don't care, but I'd like one of those guys.)

Do not want Murphy.

Our current spot would be the best possible situation, unless we drop, which I don't see happening. Unfortunately, Atlanta is only a point ahead of us and teams like Florida and Atlanta have GM's with experience in tanking for better draft position.

Just going from 6th to 7th, takes away some real nice opitions.

I can see the draft going like this
Edmonton - Ryan Nugget-Hopkins
Colorado - Adam Larsson
Ottawa - Gabriel Landeskog
Florida - Sean Couturier
Islanders - Dougie Hamilton
New Jersey - Jonathan Huberdeau
Atlanta - Ryan Strome
Columbus - Ryan Murphy or Duncan Siemens

If Atlanta passes us I think they might still take Strome, which would hopefully leave us with Huberdeau. If they take Huberdeau I think we take Murphy. I think the Islanders are going to go defense with their depth at forward and I think they are going to take Hamilton over Murphy because he is more of a two-way defenseman.

A 6-3 right-handed defenseman? Sign me up for Dougie.

Probably will mean nothing to us, but St. Louis' 1st pick will go to Colorado automatically if it ends up out of the top 10 to complete the Erik Johnson/Chris Stewart trade. If it's in the top 10, the Blues have the option of waiting and giving up next year's first.

Currently the Blues-Wild-Leafs occupy the 9-10-11 positions.

Starting to get on this Huberduber train, seems like a good kid. So does Strome, though. Just don't want to fall out of the top 8.

That's very interesting. It might mean Colorado definitely takes Larsson if he isn't taken before them and then take one of the wingers in Saad, Biggs, Armia. Or possibly they try to trade up. As much as I would hate to trade down, maybe would could get Pickard out of them and only fall a couple of spots and still be in the top 10.

Quotes from scouts:

Quote:
"Hamilton...I love that kid. He's a two-way beast. He'll nail you, play physically in the defensive end, he can take the puck and go end-to-end with it. He can quarterback the power play. I think he's actually better as the triggerman on the power play-- he's got a big shot. He's approaching Larsson's level. Larsson's been there a couple of years, whereas Hamilton's development curve is heading straight up. So, Hamilton, I'd be shocked if he made it out of the top-eight picks this year."- Kyle Woodlief, Chief Scout and Publisher, Red Line Report; December 2010

"Dougie's size and mobility are his best attributes. He's got a long reach as well, which makes it really difficult for opponents to get by him. I have to say I've been pleasantly surprised at the offense from him this season- I didn't see that coming based on last year. That said, is it going to translate to the NHL? That's a debate we've had and will continue to talk about, because it's going to play into how high he goes in the draft. Obviously, if you think he's going to put up numbers in the NHL, then you're looking at a top-five pick, easily. But, if not, then you've got some tougher decisions to make with him, I think."- NHL scout to Bruins 2011 Draft Watch; January 2011
A pretty good Bruins blog has a piece on him.

I think that one scout put it perfect for Hamilton. "if you think he's going to put up numbers in the NHL, then you're looking at a top-five pick, easily. But, if not, then you've got some tougher decisions to make with him, I think." That's what worries me about picking him. If his offensive game doesn't translate then you have more of a stay at home defenseman and while he is big I have yet to hear that he is extremely physical. If this is the case I see him turning into someone like Tallinder.

I agree with the Isles taking Hamilton over Murphy if they go for defense. They already have some puck movers like De Haan and some others that aren't big or physical.

Wish there was something of a concensous for the order of the top 8 but I'll sit here and laugh while everyones arguing. Honestly I'm not gonna act like I'm a pro scout based off of some YouTube highlight clips. Of course the player is going to look good in them.

Thank you to all those that have explained there first hand knowledge and experiences of sharing these players play and tracking their leagues.

My surprise pick and not sure you can consider him a surprise is if we're picking 7th or 8th is Mika Zibanejad. And I think he would be a great addition from whay I read and seen in clips. They say he's better and gritter than Josefson.
