Columbus @ Washington | 3/31 7pm, Versus | Joe Beninati Edition

From the Nation's Capital, it's the NHL on HFBoards presented in High Definition, as interconference foes collide, with Rick Nash and the Columbus Blue Jackets circling the wagons to visit Alex Ovechkin and the high-flyin' Washington Capitals. Expect lots of bang-bang plays and TREMENDOUS SAAAAAAAAVES from both sides, as the Jackets play for pride while the Caps continue a series of warmup games for the NHL's Big Dance.

Also, be sure to check out the Verizon Intermission Report, with Bill, Keith, and the gang back at Hockey Central.

Blue Jackets @ Capitals
7:00pm EDT

CBJ has owned the East this season, but it's the Caps at home. Still, the Jackets have played really well against Washington in recent years, even with far inferior teams (see the 3-0 shutout with the AHL lineup in 08-09). They had a point streak going against the Caps, which was snapped last season at home.

For the NHL on HFBoards, thanks for your time.

Elimination avoidance game with maybe some Kubalik in the mix... I'll watch, I'm game.

Kubalik picked up a hattie in his first game on NHL ice...that would be nice to repeat tonight.

He might play, don't get your hopes up too much. It's an emergency call up in case Nash can't go. Since he hasn't practiced with the team, I'm not sure Arniel is in a hurry to get him in the lineup. Then again, he might be an Arniel favorite and will find his way in the lineup for someone with a bent toe nail.

This assumes no update from the twitter messages I saw floating around.

Just posting to keep expectations in check.

I can not wait for my second favorite team to smack my first favorite team. I love the Caps goal horn and I hope to hear it tonight.'

Go Jackets though, be competitive but lose

Got a man crush for John Carlson, Karl Alzner, both goalies and Holtby, Backstrom, and Marcus Johansson

I'm just messing with you because it's the Caps. Just some friendly back and forth, nothing mean intended. You are obviously free to support whatever team(s) you like and I won't be critical of your choice.

Well unless your a Pens fan. No mercy for those poor souls.

Lmao I got you, I just didn't want to rub any of us the wrong way. Jackets are without a doubt my first favorite team.

And I agree on Pittsburgh

A fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins. There is absolutely no good reason to support them, unless your hot girlfriend forces you to. Even then you must only be a fan in appearance. For you women out there, don't follow your boyfriend down that path. You can do better.

I'm not making the rules here, just trying to save souls.....

No, not a good reason. You must break free of your families oppression.

I sure hope you aren't taking this serious. I've tried to be over-the-top enough to make that clear....

The only disappointing part is that I broke character to tell you this... /sigh

Having said that I have a long history of making fun of all my friends that are Pittsburgh fans. Sadly, that's all I can do since they beat the crap out of my teams other then the Pirates.

Friend of mine is an awesome artist. He is in the final stages of painting a picture of Iginla. His name is Shawn Voelker. He does alot of sports stars portraits. He's painted Bengals, Reds, Steelers, I think this one of Iginla is the first hockey one I've seen him do. He's going to have an art show in Cincinnati in April sometime.

You must be on vacation this week Blah...

Anyway, I'm watching the game to see O and in a small measure: Coo-Ball-Ick. It would be fun to see the Jackets beat Washington, I want them seeded 2nd..
