Most guys like him (NBA Players, Rappers) just wear it because it looks cool..

Xzibit actually does like Hockey, he's a Ranger fan. Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, and Trish Stratus are all Hockey fans. Stratus is a Maple Leaf fan, Jericho had a Winnipeg Jets jersey on on RAW, but I think he's a Leaf fan as well. As for Bret I dont know.

The Leafs seem to appear subtely in pretty much all of Mike Myers movies, usually with some reference to them winning the cup.

Joey, Chandler, and Ross went to countless Ranger games on Friends. I bet Mathew Perry's love for hockey persuaded the writers.

You guys forgot about Swingers when they're playing NHL 93 or 94. They were using the Kings and Chicago. They talked about Roenick and they injured Gretzky.

Heres some I can think of:

Mighty Ducks - Of course, the Mighty Ducks movies
NY Rangers - Adam Sandler in Big Daddy, The Rangers are playing the Lightning and Sandler is watching the game, also Mystery Alaska, also in an episode of Seinfeld
Boston Bruins - Happy Gilmore, Sandler was a die-hard B's fan, and also Cam Neely in dumb and dumber
Toronto Maple Leafs - Seem to sneak into Mike Myers' movies...
Buffalo Sabres - Won the Stanley Cup in Bruce Almighty
Chicago Blackhawks - Waynes World, Garth and Wayne are die-hard Hawks fans, also one movie (dont know name) where the Hawks played the Pens in the '92 finals, i think there was a bomb threat at the game or something
Detroit Red Wings - I think there was a "Tool Time" where they went to a wings game
New Jersey Devils - Seinfeld, The Face Painter, played the Rangers in the playoffs

Notice how most movies are made in America?

Although Mike Myers does reference to the Leafs in most of his movies. For instance in Austin Powers 3, when they're doing the news report on the trial for Dr. Evil you can see "Toronto Maple Leafs win Stanley Cup" running along the ticker.

Actually a lot of movies are made in Canada because it's cheaper up there.

Sudden Death feat. Jean-Claude Van Damme! Don't ask why I remember. It actually pretty decent...for a Van Damme movie.

Let me re-phrase.

Notice how most movies are produced by American companies?

The Caps are mentioned now and then on "West Wing" and other political dramas.

An important figure walks into a room and says "Did you see the Caps game last night? It was ugly."

The kids in Home Improvement sometimes played street hockey in their backyard or even indoors wearing Red Wings jerseys.

There was a hockey episode in "The Nanny", where Fran dates a player from the Rangers called Mike LaVoe (he was wearing #7, although that number was retired in 1979). There are some pics from that episode in this link.

Nelly (the rapper) very frequently wears a Blues jersey.

Wasn't Mike Modano in a movie or something like that?

The movie "The Friends of Eddie Coyle", made in 1973, had a scene with Robert Mitchum and Peter Boyle sitting in the balcony at a Bruins-Blackhawks game in the old Boston Garden(picture on the link below).

50 Mission Cap.

Brittany Murphy's new movie, I just saw a trailer for it, it has a Devils jersey hanging up on a wall.
