Aside from teamplay in general, what is your biggest concern?

Is it health, the PP, goaltending, motivation, leadership, etc...

For me I have to go with health. When Pronger, briere, betts, timonen are all healthy, and were healthy through the year, this team was amazing. Now obviously teams just don't "flip the switch" once the playoffs start, but I truly believe getting Pronger back (hopefully for the 1st damn round) will really give this team a much needed shot in the ass.

Luck. Coincidences. ****. That's about it.

We made it to overtime of game 6 of the 2010 SCF with 13098139183924 concerns going into the playoffs. Hell, we barely made the playoffs and ended up in the SCF. I feel like people are trying to quantify our chances and future. What happens will happen. Games will be decided by inches, as always.

I don't really believe in a playoff on/off switch, so I really hope they punk me and everyone else once the playoffs start. Besides the 'slump', I guess health is definently my biggest concern. I don't think this team contends if Pronger doesn't come back at least at 90% especially if Betts and Briere are banged up worse than we are being told.

An extremely hot goalie also might've contributed to that...just saying

I wouldn't necessarily say that.... 1st round we played the one 'top 4' team whose # we really had... 2nd round we faced an injured Bruins team and almost bowed out in four before staging that amazing comeback, 3rd round we played a small, soft Montreal team that we were able to manhandle. Leighton played well in round 3, but he was awful in game 7 vs. Boston and even worse in the finals.

I'm not disagreeing, but you have to admit Boucher and Leighton played over their heads in the playoffs...for the most part

Does it show how pessimistic I am about this team to say I cannot even trim my concerns to a top-5 list?

lol what series were you watching? I was at all 7 games, and the first 3 we lost we could have EASILY pulled out and won...we just got really unlucky. I remember thinking "if ever there was a situation where a 3-0 rally was possible it was that series" (just because the games were so close, then we got gagne and they lost krecji and we had been unlucky in the first 3.)

those first 3 games were NOT out of our reach, we shouldnt have been down 3-0 in the first place TBH.

Where did I say, they were out of reach?? I said we played a Boston team and almost bowed out in four games. You do realize that we were an OT goal away from being swept right? There was absolutely nothing in my statement that was claimed they were out of reach.

Whether or not they can flip the switch and get their **** together. Playing up to their talent level consistently in other words.

PP and shutouts. Knowing we have to score at least 2+ goals every game from even strength is worrying.

After last night's embarrassing 5-2 loss to an Ottawa Senators club consisting of a heavy dose of AHL-level players, Philadelphia finds itself in a complete free fall. The club's recent penchant for grabbing leads with strong play, then allowing their opposition to come back and take games from them is something that emulates the pattern of their win-loss record over the course of the entire season. If ever the Flyers needed a galvanizing occurrence akin to the Boucher shootout triumph from last season, it is now.

Gotta get that PP going. Lucky for us, Pronger should be back soon (although the power play has been bad all year).

yea the lack of a quality PP all season has got to be a top concern..

followed by a overall lack of "give a ****" attitude, but i suspect that will change come the playoffs when its truely do or die..

but the PP, thats gunna be a true test..

Anyone else see Richards' comments after the game (or today) about the effort? Bout time he spoke out and took some blame. He said it'll change tomorrow. So we'll find out if its still all talk, or if we run the Sabres into the ground.

(first round preview?)

No worries because....

Simply put:
This team is a different team during playoffs and we'll have missing pieces back hopefully by then.
Unlike teams past we have such depth that no goalie beats us single handed in more then one game.
We are much better and tighter then last years successful team.
Last years starter is our insurance, so not just deep on Offense and defense but also in Goal in case of emergency.
And there's no shoot outs.

That sounds great and all... but the team has to play like they actually want to win before your post can be considered valid.

The Flyers have exactly 1 week before they host their first game of the postseason to find and flip this "switch" that will revert them back into the unbeatable team we saw 4 months ago and in the playoffs last year with the drive of winners

They have to eliminate the complacency that has crept in slowly but surely since January.

Problem is this team was so damn hot up to Xmas that they seem to have just complacently slid to the end of the season.
There is a huge aura of arrogance about them, thinking it was going to be a breeze or something.

Get rid of the complacency, and get some momentum. Because honestly, this team has a first round exit written all over it as it stands, and we are only a week away.

This isn't a Rocky film. You can't just throw a montage in and all of a sudden the team is great again. Doesn't work like that.

They have to stop feeling sorry for themselves and start playing like there is no tomorrow.

Oh, and fix that ******* powerplay!!!
