hard not to like the guy with the interview he just gave. No generic "we gave 110%" answers from him

Why couldn't he play like this, for at least 41 games of the year?

I'll take this though!

Attaboy Gomer!

He plays so much better when he doesn't get paid.

as ridiculous as it is that he didn't bother to put in this kind of effort in the regular season, gotta love the way he played tonight.

Hope he carries this on throughout the playoffs, both to give us a good shot at going deep AND to give PG more to work with in trying to move him in the offseason.

win-win!

If Gomer keeps it up, his stock goes from minus to decent. Very tradeable if so..

Fiesta Edition!

Gomez was brilliant today, not only did he setup both goals, he stole the puck on both those plays to get possession.

Well well what do you know... Gomez actually played like an *almost* 7 million dollar player.

Keep this up for a long playoff run and you just may keep yourself from Hamilton Scotty!

said it the day Gainey signed him, dont ever judge him for his regular season - people were expecting him to score 30-40 goals, score 100 points - but that was never his game.

He was and for the most of his career been a playoff assassin.

so throw out the entire regular season - it meant squat,
hockey season really started tonight - and guess who knocked at the door ! love this guy.

1 good game doesn't salvage a season but he beasted this game and pulls through when it counts. He's a winner and I hope he'll continues to produce.

Time to change the title. He makes 8 mil, played hard enough to get in, and now is playing like a champ.

No more siesta... this is the playoff edition.

Siesta Edition?? (regular season)

Vamos Edition (playoffs).

Gomez will deliver...he has heart and had a GREAT attitude towards fans booing him recently he said any player (ex: him) deserves the boos when they don't perform...

He's performing and perfect timing.

Pleks
Gomez
Eller
Desharnais
Leblanc

When's the last time we had so much depth at the center position?

I still thought he played fairly badly for 90% of his icetime, but if you end up with 2 assists in a 2-0 playoff win, one can only conclude you contributed positively to your team - at least.

Really?

I watched the entire game but there were bits of it I missed because of the people I was with at the bar (lots of talking and answering their questions during!).

But I thought Gomez played well...no? and no giveaways, 2 takeaways for him and a +2.

I'm hard sometimes on Pouliot in our zone + Eller (only in our zone sometimes)...at getting the puck out of our zone but they delivered last night (defensively).

Go Habs Go!!
Keep it up...one shift, one period at a time

Had trouble in his zone but was one of the best forwards in the offensive zone. Great game by Gomez, I hope he keeps this up for the entire playoffs.

A trade might be possible in the end...

It's super that he produced last night in a timely way, but some of you are ready to vindicate him way too early ...

Lets relax, keep our fingers crossed and hope that he continues to play great.

1 good PO game however doesn't help to compensate for a bad season... but a good PO series might!

It's just one game !
If he could do that in the next 5 games, then I'll completely forgive him for his awful performance in the season.

Its only one game guys, lets see if he can keep it up.
Tsn showed a stat last night where Gomez has something like 16 points in his last 6 game 1s in the first round.

And he has 61 points in his past 62 playoff games, or something along that, according to Arpon Basu.

What game were you watching?? Not the same I was atleast. Fact: Gomez played a really good game. In fact, all of our centers played really well.

And I agree with all of you..

Siesta Edition --> Vamos Edition please.

If you're one of those people who focus no exactly where the puck is, and have trouble also keeping track of what other players are doing away from the puck, you'll miss a lot of what Gomez continues to struggle with. Fact: if Gionta doesn't capitalize on those two chances (giving Gomez two assists) and WE somehow lose that game 2-0, we'd still have lots of coasting in circles 50 feet from the puck, poor defensive zone coverage, difficulty managing anything except 5 foot dump-off passes once gaining possession in the offensive half of the ice, and weak ass battles for the puck to talk about.

But hey, as long as it's all part of the formula that gets the Habs the W at the end of the night, it's all good. Gomez feels his performance last game vindicates him of his struggles in the regular season. If that helps him feel more relaxed and confident out there, that's at least another step in the right direction.
