Joe Thornton

If it is true he wants out of Boston and they're willing to let him go, we should get him. Not only is he 24 but he has size and a 100 point season on his resimay. If he goes anywhere else I will probably post my suicide note on this website and that will be the last you hear from me.

Yeah I think it would take too much to get him. I'm not saying he is not a great player because he is it would just be way to much to get him. And something is telling me this Story is all just a big mix up.

Well if Beantown was willing to deal him for say Prucha, Immonen, and one of our goaltending prospects...I would say pull the trigger...however we all know that isn't going to happen...so fuggaboutit.

If Thornton goes, BOS would definitely want a young stud in return. Not a Lundmark or a Tyutin, we're talking a Heatley/Kovalchuk/Iginla/Nash type player.

We certainly don't have that.

Just sign him to an offersheet and give up 5 1st round draft picks and still have our prospects.

a 2006 first rounder ( not 2005 we have a chance to maybe be in the crosby draft), 2005 second rounder, lundmark, prucha and maybe a young d man... im not one to give up alot for one player either but in this case for a 24 year old power centre with already a 94 opoint season, he would be great here, i would do it in a minute he is the center we are looking for.

thats even dumber than giving up the prospects since we should expect some high draft picks meaning those picks will return players better than we currently have

There is no way in hell any of those teams trade Heatley, kovalchuk, Iginla or Nash for Joe Thornton. That would never happen. If he is dealt, it will be for some NHL ready young, top flight prospects. Never would a team give up someone like Heatley, who will end up being better than thorton anyway.

where is this story coming from? i don't think i've heard anything about joe wanting to leave boston or boston be willing to let him leave. perhaps someone is confusing it with the story the journalist (his name eludes me) wrote about joe not deserving the C.

than a team amking the rade might as well not why give up one star for another makes no sense the b's will want a good young player or 2 in return plus a first rounder and some good solid prospects, not nashs kovalchuks etc.... then why would teams =trade for him to take a starte4r ouyt for another makes no sens3

yep, thats exactly what i was saying before. a trade like that will never happen, this isn't the NBA, where star players are traded for eachother on almost a routine basis.

I don't think they would want to give up all that it would take to get Joe.

There are a lot more star players in the NBA, and that term is over used anyway. NBA's structure makes trading a fundamental part of the sport so it can not be compared to hockey in that respect.
