I wouldn't. I think Wilson will have a good future here, despite his low ice time right now.

I don't know... Franson might be expendable, but we won't really know until 2011 training camp at the earliest. Wilson kills the deal for me. Philly and Boston have low picks in the upcoming draft, and are likely to have low picks in the 2012 draft. MacArthur is having a career year for sure, but he's only topped 30pts one other time in his career. I think Wilson has potential to be a 50-60pt scorer consistently.

If you're looking for a deal that could get done around draft time this year I think you'd be better off with a trade centered around Franson and MacArthur. Maybe add a 3rd or 4th rounder to this from Toronto's end.

it is fair value, maybe even too much from torontos end.

Not if you think Wilson has the ability to reach the potential projected for him.

Despite the early ups and downs, I think early indications are very good that he become a very physical, responsible top 6 player with some good (but not great) skills. Mike Fisher with better scoring touch, for instance. Scott Hartnell with a brain. Ryan Getzlaf... without most of the key things that make him Ryan Getzlaf.

Anyway, pretty positive Poile wouldn't do that deal or anything close to it.

Preds are playing for now and the next 3-5 years.

the low 1st rounders would not have an impact until 3-4 years at the earliest.

pass, but I agree its probably fair value, just not something we'd be interested in doing

Different proposal:

Hemsky
for
O'Reilly + Franson + Dumont + 2nd in 2012 (draft before the world ends)

Yes? No? Maybe so?

We'd be giving too much I feel, take the pick out and I might do it.

I could go for that.

Conditional 2nd if Hemsky plays >65 games. A 3rd if he plays less.

I like the deal as well, but obviously the only problem is Dumont's NMC.

That's a lot for one player, especially Hemsky. If it had been a real stud coming back then okay, I don't see anyone coveting Dumont enough to deal for him, and I don't think Hemsky would be worth two young players that obviously can produce in the NHL plus a 2nd. I think you could get Franson and a 2nd for him, and it would be fair.

Oilbleeder gave his/her reasoning on the trade forum. Dumont is a salary dump so that Hemsky's contract doesn't screw us up with Weber and Suter. O'Reilly might be the odd man out at center. Franson can be replaced (though his offense isn't likely to be replaced on the blueline next season). I think with a conditional pick it's fair, but I'd make it a 2nd if he plays 65 or more games, 3rd if he plays 50-64, and 4th for anything less than 50.

Not a big Hemsky fan, but we aren't giving up a lot.

not disagreeing with the concept but how likely do you think it is that Dumont(who is rumored to love it here and plans to live here after he retires) will waive his NTC, uproot his family and go freeze his butt off in Edmonton with what will still likely be a rebuilding/crappy oilers team for one season?

Still Franson is worthy trade bait, not for Hemsky, but for others.

I'd love to see Franson moved in a trade similar to the Neal-Goligoski trade between DAL and PIT earlier this year. Addressed a need for both teams and gave each a young established player with still some unrealized potential to move forward with.

I could definitely see something around Franson and Setoguchi from SJ. That's my guess.

Oh I never think any trade proposal on HF is likely. It's just fun to discuss reasonable proposals is all. I just thought I'd clear up Oilbleeder's offer a bit just to prevent any potential flaming
