The best fits for our needs are Armida, McNeill or Rattie unless Zibanejad or Scheifele slip to #17.
I hope Scheifele is available at #17, ISS has him ranked right at 17 which is coincidentally right when we pick. Seeing as how I am from the West, I had no idea that Barrie was OHL's equivalent of my Regina Pats. That being known now, doesn't make the -22 seem bad at all and his +/- ranking in the U18's impresses me more. I hope PG has his eye on this kid, like we do.

My wishlist (realistic pick):
Joel Armia: Magic hands! Tho it'd be troublesome if he only ends up only being a shootout specialist..
Mark Scheifele: Has the skill, has the drive, has the frame, needs to bulk up. Solid pick.
Mark McNeil: This guy is the complete package and plays on a ****** team so don't let his +/- fool you!
Nicklas Jensen: Dunno always liked the kid, but haven't followed his progression as of late.
Rocco Grimaldi: I keep hearing about this kid, and he's apparently the most talented kid of the draft alongside RNH; if anyone can, please further enlighten me of this 5'6 player. btw he's a midget, but if he becomes a Gerbe then i'm all for it!
J.T. Miller: Nothing on this guy, I jsut want to say it's MILLER TIME!
Matt Puempel: This guy just scores goals left and right!

I think he'll be better than Gerbe. More dynamic. He's got blazing speed and just knows how to play the game. When talking about midget sized players, usually people expect them to have superior speed to compensate on their lack of size/reach (Martin St-Louis). Grimaldi has it. He's REALLY fast. He's also a guy that will make his linemates better, he's a real sparkplug. Good shot, agility, determination, very slippery and pretty good vision though not elite like RHN. Doesn't have many flaws other than his size. All his other attributes are superior to normal IMO. I think he'll be a top 6 player in the NHL.

My realistic wishlist (in no order):

Grimaldi: Will be an NHL player, one of the best offensive players in this draft, good value if available at our spot. Played pretty well against older college guys.

Bartschi: Really like his skillset, although some people think he's too much a perimeter player and a bit on the small side, he could end up a great offensive weapon. Great hands and vision.

Brodin: Thinks the game at a superior level, which tells me he could make a really great NHLer down the road. Not flashy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for d-men. Could be the steal of the draft.

Armia: I'd be ecstatic if he were available at our spot. A sniper with great size and what a shot.

Scheifele: A riser. He's a project but once he beefs up, he has 2nd line potential. Smart player.

Phillips: Wouldn't mind him cause I like his hockey sense. Good offensive skills. His skating will get better.

Puempel: Goal scorer, decent size. Very talented. OHL and CHL rookie of the year last year. Seems like a very nice, enthusiastic kid too.

Oleksiak: Yes, I am a fan. Don't think he's a risky pick because his skating is totally fine and will only get better with time. Played good defense already against college players. Didn't have mind-blowing offensive stats but not bad at all for a college freshman (actually had the same stats as habs forward prospect Steve Quailer). Has potential to log many minutes and be the kind of d-men players hate to play against. Low-risk high-reward in my opinion.

Siemens: Born 8 days later and he'd be a 2012 draft eligible. Good skater, physical, good fighter and time to improve his game. I think he'll be a good shut-down top 4 defenseman in the NHL.

The off-season has begun and Gauthier appears to be well ahead of the pack,I hope they draft one or both of Justin Sefton and Kale Kessy two players that have talent and grit.Somebody with 1st line possibility would be great in the 1st round,Khokhlachev is my choice still.

If you want grit and talent, your top2 picks should be Ewanyk and Lowry.

Gaborik could pass as his little bald brother that can skate, shoot and make plays at highspeed.

What's with Beaulieu being rated so high? I admit I haven't really seen him play, but when your statistics really don't improve from the age of 16/17 to the age of 17/18, to me that is a warning sign. Unless he completely focused on his defensive game, I don't know.

If Zachary Yuen is still available in the third round for the Habs, I hope they grab him. Talented defenseman, that is very gritty and drops the gloves.

Both Snipers and Both are big. Foot speed can be worked out in the AHL . Just look at what Patches did. He was really slow for a long time and is fast now.

What? Pacioretty was never slow and Gaborik is one of the fastest players in the league, he had that speed in his draft year. No way Armia can build up speed like that in the AHL.

Pacioretty was always fast. The big changes is that is strength and size has caught up to his frame, his hockey sense has caught up to the NHL level, he's learned to shot more often and not defer to his linemates and finaly, how to play around and behind the net on the powerplay.

Must have confused him with Latendresse. Either that or you are mistaking his previous unwillingness to battle and get to pucks in the corner as lack of foot speed.

Yea maybe that is it. Anyways i would like us to get Armia. He could really be a 1rst line Sniper in 2 or 3 years for the habs.

My top picks would never include guys based on grit first,Ewanyk and Lowry are probably good for 3rd-4th round picks tops.Sefton is a capable defenceman that one-punched Broll into unconsciousness and Kessy is similar to Boone Jenner except his ability to fight and protect his teammates puts him into a category I like for the Habs in the future.I haven't seen any of your picks fighting maybe they are as good but not 1st-2nd round picks.

I didn't see it as a lack of willngness, it more seemed to be a problem with reading the play. What stuck out for me with early Pacioretty was how he kept driving to the center of the ice and getting creamed by opposition defensemen. I simulatenously loved his willingness to go to the tough areas on the ice and hated how he kept getting crushed. The difference with our knew grown up Patches is that he still drives to the center of the ice but has the situational awareness to skate around the check and the strength to push back or even ragdoll the defenceman. A big part of why powerforwards like Max need a few years developement is that the strength needed to play that way takes a time to build.

Armia would be a good pick, if nothing else he's putting up solid numbers in a men's league. I figure that he'll be gone by 17 though so my sights are currently on whichever of Schiefele, McNiel and Puempel last until the Habs pick (by my projection 2 of the 3 will be gone by then so the Habs get the leftover). This is a great year for CHL scoring forwards and the Habs should look to get one of them.
