They aren't good enough to compete with the 85 group who are two years older and much bigger/stronger.

The amount of returning players creates a logjam. There will be a pile of returnees this year and neither Brule or Bertram are good enough to take the spot of an 18 or 19 year old.

Isn't it because they will be playing for the U-18 team?

Crosby wasnt invited to the summer camp.

He played at the U18's and that is where Bertram and Brule will play in August.

Then if Bertram and Brule play well at the start of the year they will be invited in December, like Sidney was.

I'm pretty sure these two weren't invited because they will be playing in the -18 tournament that week. Crosby isn't eligible for that tournament anymore, that's why he was invited.

They will be at the main camp if they have a good start to the season.

Brule is the better two-way player with great offensive potential. IMO he should be their

Crosby is most certainly eligible for the U18 team. He is 6 months younger than Brule and Bertram. Brule might have an outside shot, but Bertram is smaller and not nearly as good as Gilbert.

Better two way player than who? Also who would you cut to make room for Brule?

Players who play in the WJHC are no longer eligible for this tournament. So he's not eligible.

DC is right.

Once a player has played in the WJC program they are no longer eligible for the U18 tournament.

Don't know where this statement came from but I don't think it is correct. Few players on the Russian team (Ovechkin, Pestunov, Ezhov) were participating at the WJC U20 2003 in January and then few monthes later at the WJC U18 2003.

From what I've read that is not right. The official explanation from Hockey Canada
was that Sidney outgrew that level and the focus for him would be 20 under.
