Pierre-Marc Bouchard is Wild's nominee for Masterton

Quote:
Pierre-Marc Bouchard has been selected as the Wild’s nominee for the Bill Masterton trophy by the Twin Cities chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association. The honor is given annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to ice hockey.

After a debilitating concussion that made him wonder if he’d ever play hockey or feel normal again, Bouchard successfully achieved a comeback to the NHL on Dec. 1 after being limited to one game in 20-plus months.

Now he's doing Spin-O-Rama's, dancing the blue line and scoring overtime winners and shootout goals again. He’s scored 11 goals and 34 points in 55 games.

“It feels almost like a second chance,” Bouchard said last month.

That was pretty obvious and I think he will be a top 3 finalist this year.

Not sure there's even a way to argue against this choice.

I don't think he really has any big competition for it.

Not until next year.

I didn't know he had that many points this year. Not that it's a lot or anything. Well, take that back I guess. Considering the rest of the squad and all...

Nice, Bouchard really deserve it. I remember a lot ppl saying he never was going to play again or never would be the same player he was, fear and blablabla.
Yeah, he is a favorite and even if there are some other players with same history, injury and return, none of them stayed away so long than bouchard.

Who's played well for a VERY short period of time.

Granted, he's coming back from a possibly life threatening disease... But Butch is coming back from what was looking like a career ending - if not worse - injury himself.

I'd be shocked if Emery gets any serious consideration, he just hasn't done enough.
