I don't think anyone has stopped watching, but let's be realistic. The Kings don't have a strong chance at any points tonight. Murray doesn't have a game plan for 2 goal comebacks. Kings will continue to dump and pray.
well i understand that, and i'm not saying it's a foregone conclusion that we're going to come back. but it's not a foregone conclusion that we won't, either. we still have two periods. it'd be a lot worse if it was the end of the second, and we weren't able to put at least some pressure on. we're not playing so badly that i'm willing to pack it in.
I'm going to ignore all this negativity and just say we're gonna need a huge second period. The Sharks are giving up chances, we just need to capitalize and stop making those little mistakes that keep biting us in the ***. Totally doable. Let's clinch this b****.
... And it's too bad that there are some people who think that a call-up from Manchester can't replace Smyth, who has done next to zero in the second half of this season. If his name was "Frolov" or "Ponikarovsky", he'd be benched a long time ago but we all know how Terry Murray rolls.
I've given up on trying to wonder why Ryan Smyth has a roster spot. Like you said if this were Frolov it wouldn't fly.
The guy has been a one zone, one dimensional player his entire career and now that one dimension is gone. The guy is essentially a smaller Steve McKenna out there right now. I would rather see Harrold or anyone from Manchester. Atleast maybe one of the kids would actually give a pros effort out there, something #94 doesn't do unless he is within 10 feet of the goal.
I can't wait for the buy out this summer and never having to see this guy play here again.
I think he is going to have a hard time catching on in the NHL next season, I really do.
It is the defensive liability and total lack of any kind of effort in the defensive zone that makes Smyth an embarrassment. We realize you used to score goals so coaches would look the other way with your lack of effort in the defensive zone, but when you have 2 goals in 30 games you better damn well play in the defensive zone and not give Kyle Wellwood a red carpet escort to the damn goal.
That was as bad a defensive play as you will see an NHL player make. Again it's an embarrassment that a 15 year veteran doesn't even try to play defense.
This right here is why I find it so hard to even root for Smyth. It's one thing to just not be very good anymore but it's another thing to not even try. He never cared about his own end but when you're not good at the one thing that got you here anymore, you think you'd try to make up for it in other areas. This "leader" sure could learn a lot from a guy like Mark Recchi. This isn't Team Canada here, Ryan. You can't ride the coattails of others to victory.
