I'm curious to see what will happen with Mauro Jorg. He should come play for Albany as soon as he can.

Jared, do the Devils still retain the rights for Sopanen?

The Lidstrom comparison from Red Berenson (who isn't given to hyperbole) really excites me. I want to see how he does against pros before buying the hype, but it is really exciting.

Excellent write-up JR. Very detailed and accurate reports of describing the games and development of those youngsters.

I have no doubt in my mind that Merrill is gone after two. He'll be a permanent fixture on an offensively starved blueline within two years..

Merrill can be as good as Carlson, same height and size. So in reality we have Carlson and Tedenby.

I'm not 100% sure on that, but I don't think they do anymore.

Merrill's progression this year has been astounding. I liked what I'd heard about him going into the year, but he definitely exceeded the expectations I had for his freshman year and then some. I too think one more year at Michigan and then he turns pro. I read multiple tweets from people who follow the college game closely who say he probably could have helped the Devils this year with the way he played.

Don't want to rush him, just let him play another year in the college ranks. Caps didn't rush Carlson, and he's the next Carlson. I firmly believe that.

And even after next season I don't think he'll go straight to NJ. I think he'll start the year in Albany and then get called up when there's an opening.

Year at Michigan, year in the AHL will call ups as available.

The delayed gratification will be so very sweet.

I could see Lou blowing a pick next year to get Suter's rights. No problem with that if we could land Suter.

I don't think any of us would have a problem with that. But it's hard to predict what Nashville will do about Suter. My guess is Poile will probably lock him up and we'll be out of luck.

Let me ask you this. Would you trade Parise for Suter and the rights to Radulov if you knew you could sign Radulov at something around $5M?

Are you serious?

Radulov is not coming back to the NHL. He's doesn't have close to the work ethic Lou wants in his players.

I would consider trading Parise for a signed Suter, if that's what they asked for. Nashville can keep Flaky McFloaterson's rights.

We have the #27 (Merrill) and #30 (Tedenby) ranked prospects according to HF.

Our defense may be a weakness right now, but in 2-3 years, we will definitely start to see some of these highly regarded guys come in and make impact. I don't want to say we are going to have the best defense in the league, but if guys like Merrill, Urbom, Gelinas, Burlon (and whomever we may draft this year or next) develop like they should, we should have one of the better defenses in the league.

I still think we'll need a top flight puck mover, which is part of my preoccupation with Murphy. Pair him with Volchenkov or Merrill or Urbom a couple years from now and just let him unleash the dragon.
