As has been posted earlier, lightning, wild, caps and flyers look to be the more interested teams, jackets maybe too.

And Nabby wants to play here

Smellis has played well the past 4 games but I'd still rather have Nabokov.

Uh no. I don't want us parting with large assets for a rental or old goalie. Nobody's going to give us Ryan Miller for Smitty, a prospect and a first. If we can get T-Vo and they want Purcell in return, I'm all for it but not much beyond that. We finally have some good talent in our system, I don't want to wash it all away for one goalie who could walk after a half season.

Nor do I want to throw money or contract space at a goaltender that isn't better than what we have.

Given the alternative, Mike Smith said, things could be a lot worse. The Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender said he heard a pop in his left knee when teammate Simon Gagne clipped him during Monday's morning skate. So given that the sprain of the medial collateral ligament is considered mild, needing two to three weeks of recovery, Smith said he considers himself "lucky in this situation."

Smith seems under a bit of a black cloud, doesn't he? The guy is playing lights out in the first half of the 2008-09 season and then gets run over by then-teammate Vinny Prospal, and a concussion costs him the rest of the season. He is getting things together last season and is run over by Washington's Brooks Laich and is out for a significant amount of time with a neck injury. Now, he plays two solid games as he tries to get out of a slump and his own teammate puts him on the sideline.

But give Smith credit for keeping some perspective. He even chuckled when asked if he felt he was cursed, in a way.

"No, I don't feel that way. Just bad luck, really," he said. "It's part of being a professional athlete. You know an injury can happen any time. Stuff happens."

The timing, though, as Smith said, "couldn't be much worse."

The stats there are much much better BUT look at the teams too. Not much offense from those teams we have played at all. So the jury is still out until he puts up those types of numbers against playoff teams and not bottom teams.

Well we just seem to beat ATL regardless these days (like FLA with us), and the Rangers were missing almost their entire top two lines including Gaborik, Prospal, Callahan, Del Zotto etc. So not the same team that it has been throughout the year to compile the record that has them in a playoff spot right now.

So yeah.

Boston=Playoff team

Ellis lets in 2 bad goals including a really bad one for the game winner.

Ugh.... did we get Nabokov yet?

I want Nabokov but I'll settle for Roloson. Maybe with NYI trading Wiz they have freed up enough cash to take either Smith or Ellis also.

That's my hope anyway.

Without Roloson, the Isles payroll is like 47 dollars.

Hmm. Not a fix now but for the offseason. Capgeek says Jimmy Howard is a UFA. He's young, talented and a Redwing.

What about Osgood? Dude stopped 46 last night and looked good and has been better than Howard recently. Playoffs Osgood + our Top 6 = yes please. I'd do it just for this year.
