I would love Roloson here. Based on cost to acquire per return, he is at the top of my list.

I dont want Emery anywhere near this team. He is a locker room cancer and has horrible character.

Emery isn't coming here. He's still atleast a few months away from even being NHL level ready to play.

Coach Guy Boucher said the inconsistency from his goaltenders isn’t due to a lack of talent or effort.

In fact, Boucher felt G Mike Smith and G Dan Ellis were trying to do too much, and a meeting he had with the two Friday helped them simplify their approach and focus.

Ellis said the meeting went great, with the two points of emphasis on cutting the first shot goals, and not leaving the net as much to play the puck.

“They want to do so well that they’re focusing on too many things at the same time,” Boucher said. “They want to stop the shot and the backdoor and maybe if it’s a 2-on-1 and maybe if there’s a guy open, and that usually has a tendency to happen when things are not going the way you want and you want to do so good that you’re focusing on too many things. Right now, they’re going to focus on that first shot and everybody else will take care of everything else that’s coming.”

The Lightning’s defense has played well, allowing the second fewest shots per game at 27.7, but its combined save percentage entered Saturday’s game a league worst .878.

“The biggest thing we want to eliminate is the first shot goals and the goals that are just momentum killers,” Ellis said. “Even though you can say there have been some bad bounces, you want to try to eliminate those situations. When the puck is on the glass, don’t go behind the net.”

Ellis said Boucher’s suggestions and constructive criticism was welcomed.

“When everything takes a turn for the worse, you’re always going to reflect internally and you’re never really accurate so when you get exactly what the coach is thinking and wanting and you know exactly what to focus on, it minimizes your distractions and you’re able to go out there and play your game.”

Said Boucher: “I think it’s going to help them because they’re good goaltenders, they’ve just had a more difficult time lately. But I trust them and I have confidence that they’re going to rebound.”

I'm almost certain we'll be standing pat for all of December and into January. The x-factor is how crappy Smellis is. If we see another month of this, I expect a mid-January trade.

They said the same about Denis.

So your saying it did nothing and I should not hold my breath for a lightning goalie to get a shutout anytime soon, especially tonight.

I'm not really trying to say anything other than the talk would had to have happened before the Avs game.

from roloson? you can expect a lot. he should be able to drive any team deep into the playoffs. dude is a beast. i could see him still going hard past 1-2 years, he has had no injuries and even though he is 40, its not like he has a 20 year career in the nhl.

late night offers the best opinions on rolli

my heart wants to give roloson to the best team possible so he has the best chance at going to a real team that can win it all.

realistically, id say a 2nd rounder plus a prospect is good.

Torts in your face style worked extremly well for Vinny. Lets hire him back as an assistant coach to get things going again!

Well, if Mike Smith was in tonight you wouldn't have to worry about not being able to get through the neutral zone, you could just shoot from there.

But alas, Ellis is in goal tonight..

Thanks kevin, hopefully Roli will get a shot at the playoffs with a contending team this season. He's definitely still got what it takes to win mentally and physically. Watching his strong play get wasted every game is getting hard to take.

What about Sumo wrestler Yokozuna Musashimaru? He is retired now, and at least would fill up most of the net. Could not be worse than Smellis

Invatation to the US inline team as a 16 year old. Does that count? Played Ice goalie a few times and was lit up like a christmas tree. Though I'm not to sure I would do much worse than Ellis or 5mith right now.....
