Anybody open to the possibility that our defense causes a bit of this as well? Ellis has shown that he has been capable before and pre concussion Smith was pretty good. Our defense and system causes a lot of odd man rushes. I understand that a good goalie would help it all but not everything. I also realize that we arent contenders this year but if they want to make sure they the playoffs they might want to make a move. Either for a defensemen or a goalie but it may be hard to do.

You could add Pronger, Chara, Weber and Kaberle and the goalies would still manage to let in 1 or 2 soft goals a game

There's still a sliver of hope for Ellis IF he can correct his biggest two problems. 1)Stop doing dumb stuff, stop the roaming and stop the wild puck play. 2)Learn to track enemy skaters as they enter the zone. He always is surprised when there's someone from the other team near him unless it's the initial shooter.

It's just terrible no matter what way we spin it. Watching these two play goal makes me want Holmqvist over these guys.

I just really hope SFY is working the phones like its going out of ****ing style. Imagine this team with solid goaltending. If we had a Miller, or Lundqvist we'd be fighting for the top spot in the East. REALLY wish we would have signed Nabokov. I didn't like the Ellis signing in July, unfortunately I was right. Roloson please come here.

Probably not, the basis of being a catcher is that a teammate throws the ball at you, hoping you catch it. These guys might try to not shoot it directly at the goaltender.

But, yet another argument for the goalie-enforcer. A goon/goalie. A goonie, if you will. 5mith starts letting them in, and starts letting them have it, they may just get more po'ed at 5mith, just to start shooting the puck at him.

Did not work for Cloutier, mind you he moved out of the way when they did shoot at him, even from the center line.

To be fair though, beach balls have an odd weight distribution, so the way they bounce can be unpredictable.

Sadly we probably would have a few more wins if they just kept Niitty....

Right now I think with Vinny out and Downie out Boucher should really make a statement about his coaching style and not go with an extra forward or defenseman but go really radical and be the first to go with a 3 goalie system. We can only expect 1 good period out of Smith and Ellis anyways so bring up CD and they each get 1 period a game.

But they all suck at the shoot out, so we need a 4th for that. Drop the 4th line and play the 3 goalies not in net as the 4th line; Smith and Ellis love to play the puck so let them earn their $.

How about a catcher that specializes in knuckleballers? That might work.

Tampa and San Jose are my favorite teams, and after watching Nabby for the past 5 years, you don't want him, he's already stinking it up in the KHL with the worst stats in the league. I haven't been abe to watch every Bolts game this season, but I am thrilled with their performance and position in the East so far.

Ditto, I was super pissed we let him go for nothing. His numbers against Atlanta alone...

Someone joked about this not too long ago, but they said it would be a killer for fantasy hockey owners that have Smith or Ellis.

First of all, if you have either Smith or Ellis on your team you need to get checked.

That's the point. Kaberle wouldn't change anything.
