If the NHL had a NFL type cba

who would you designate as the franchise player for the flyers?

i'd nominate Simon because his $ value would rise fast as a #1 line guy.

thoughts?

you can only tab a guy who would be a UFA as the franchise player right? so this year Clarkie would have tabbed Zhamnov most likely because it was a relative foregone conclusion that Primeau was gonna be back...

KJ arbitrated, so he's a UFA after next year, he'd be a franchise tag guy...

I wouldn't designate anyone as a Franchise Player. A Franchise Player, in the NFL, makes a one year salary of the average of the top five salaries at his position. The Flyers don't have anyone that is deserving of that kind of money. None of the centers are worth 9 million a year, none of the LWs are worth 7.5 million, none of the RWs are worth 6 million, none of the D are worth 7.5 million (those are all within .5 million of the actual number, I did really quick math on those figures).

It depends on how much we really wanted to keep the guy. If I had to pick, for the futre atleast Simon and Pitkanen.
