no way he even gets any time, maybe a small fine and a slap on the wrist. Sorry but the guy for sure wasn't hurt, it was a dumb move but in his defense he hit him directly on top of the helmet, not like he speared him in the eye.

If it goes to court they'd look at the intent and the damage done and even with a pretty bad lawyer he'd probably get off.
(Don't condone this kind of stuff, just being real)

What a stupid move. Hope he gets a fine or something like that ; He used his stick as a weapon after all, in a beer league. Anyways, I think he will never get to play in this league again.

And wtf... "Enwaye varge-le esti !"

Not like I think he'll get arrested. Maybe a fine, but just because he hit's him on the head.. doesn't mean he should get away with anything. Intent is just as important to consider.

I know you have a bullet proof vest, but I shoot you anyway in the chest.. knowing you may not get hurt.. I'm still going to get something for it..

Anyway, what I find more disgusting is the reactions from the people taping.. ugh.. what a society we live in.

Clearly not a strong hockey play : the hockey broke in half. Maybe Bettman would call it a weak hockey play?

For sure, but I think that's a little more extreme a situation than this of course

Fair enough analogy though just a little bit more extreme

What I think you fail to attribute was that he used his stick like a weapon. That's the part they might get him in trouble. We will have to wait and see I guess.

Had this been closer to the chara incident they would have gone after him pretty hard, imo.

Strong hockey play - the stick just wasn't strong enough. Damn composite

Pull a stunt like that in my beer league and you're looking for a new place to play.

Imagine that? If my beer league was the NHL, guys like Cooke, Gillies and Bertuzzi would be out of a job.

Call me, Gary.

And after the hit on the head, you hear her "Yes sir! Ouais! Yes!".

She didn't seem very troubled with what she saw, that's for sure...

I do attribute that, but I just know it's not as big a deal as people are making it out to be. The end result is the guy is fine and he in no way went after an unprotected part of his body.

I understand swinging a stick (weapon) at somebodies head even if they're wearing a helmet is violent and very uncool. Problem is the guy is fine though. I know it sounds stupid but the legal system is a joke in Canada. It would honestly take somebody getting killed for them to make a big deal out of it. He'll get a slap on the wrist if it even made it to court (doubtful)

My guess is that it wouldn't even make it to court unless the media really made a big stink about it. Let's just say some guy not getting hurt in a beer league isn't exactly going to make them put this case as a high priority, and with prosecutors on strike and barely any judges left in Montreal, I just don't see this being a top priority. Even without all those other factors the guy is fine. You see people who get into DUI's who basically destroy two brand new vehicles, nobody is hurt but they could've been killed.

In a DUI the car is basically a weapon. Those people half the time believe it or not get off with a slap on the wrist, and yet people here think this guy is going to have the book thrown at him? (What I mean is when all people are okay in the incident, like the guy he hit with the stick clearly was)

I'm sure it'll be a fine at the very most and a league ban.

I actually laughed, but only because I find it so inconceivable that this idiot would get so worked up over a beer league game.

Same here, and I didn't think the hit was nearly as bad as the violence behind the hit. (stick, whatever)

He should for sure be kicked out of the league, people who can't control their impulses are dangerous.

That's exactly the problem. Anyone who is ok with swinging a stick straight down on someone's head like that (and you can see this wasn't a reaction, he thought about it for a while) has a few screws loose. And would anyone have been surprised if the guy had fallen down and convulsed instead of bouncing right back up? I wouldn't. Guys like this are the same ones who go ballistic in traffic and grab bats out of their trunks when someone pisses them off.
