Clearly going to let us send JVR down to make the room. Makes the most sense.

On a serious note, do we even have to make a move? The cap should be mostly irrelevant at this point, and it wouldn't matter for the playoffs.

Leighton isn't pro-rated.

I'm calling a 35 save shutout! $5?

A 4 or 5 GAA loss seems more likely.

Pretty smart move to re-call him then, timed well too.

Read somewhere last night that most teams are afraid of his back issues...

I think it also says just how much they talent they really believe he has, or doesn't have.

Yeah. The fact that NOBODY who should be jumping at a backup for that price actually did is pretty telling.

A couple of these teams should have put in a claim... no reason not to. If the back really is a problem, then you can waive him next year. If the back is fine, you've got a serviceable backup on an expiring deal.

Well, great. This helps us. Maybe. More likely it just shakes the confidence of our current goalies and gives another guy an opportunity to get rocked when our D leaves guys wide open.
It is more than just getting Leighton at $753K, it is really ticking off the Flyers' org in the process.

No one is more vindictive than Snider, so if a team had taken the risk on Leighton, get ready to say goodbye to all your key UFAs for the next decade.

Leighton's back + Snider's wrath = Pass on Leighton.

What on earth makes you think the Flyers are going to be major players in the UFA market?

Is it legal for Homer to call and ask other teams if they want Leighton before putting him on waivers?

God I cant wait for him to come in, give up a bad goal and have the Leighton defenders blame everyone but the beer vender on the goal and say it wasnt his fault.
He played well against teams that we matched up well against and teams with **** defenses. When he played a team with a real NHL offense he got destroyed. All he had to be was adaquate in the Cup Final and he couldnt even do that. I am not Boucher's biggest fan but I would trust Boucher if needed any day of the week over Leighton.
He shutout the Rochester Americans in his last AHL start. a AHL team with 30 freakin wins. Yeah that gets me really ****ing excited.

Gambling is only smart when you win....

People are really grasping at straws if they think LOL-eighton is going to take us to the promised land. I thought things were pretty low but this takes the cake...

You do realize this is a depth move if Bob or Boosh gets hurt, right?

It's a low bar.

If you're Florida, what is the downside to claiming Leighton? (And, yes, I think FLA's GM is a moron independent of this decision.)

There are definitely a lot of people out there who think that Leighton will bring this team the Cup. Not here, but they're out there. Twitter is an ugly place right now.

I hope he starts the last two games of the season just for the lulz. If he got a shutout it would hysterical.

This isn't really a bad move if you think about it( ). Last year in the playoffs, all four of our top 4 defensemen were playing like legitimate 1st pairing shutdown D... likely due to the fact that they had to babysit Micheal Leighton for 60-65 minutes.

It doesn't change the fact that it was a very assanine gamble...just because he lucked out doesn't absolve the risky chance. Moreover, Leighton was a bad gamble in the first place as far as signing him. It was ill-advised but once again Bob mitigated that screw up..but it was a screw up nonetheless. Finally, hanging your hat on LOL-eighton as insurance is like a paper umbrella. His added value is almost negligible. Having said this I HOPE he proves his critics wrong if he has to perform..sadly hope is not a strategy.
