The Rock vs John Cena = The Rock vs Hogan?

The older wrestler fights the current man in the company.

Hulk Hogan had a very hard time laying down to The Rock, will Cena play Rocks part in this match?

I just can't see The Rock returning to the ring and losing the match, especially after a year buildup (Few years if you count outside of Wrestling)...Thoughts?

There's no way the Rock comes back to have a match at Wrestlemania to lose. There's just no way in hell that happens.

I could see it happen. Cena's the definition of a company man, and not only has Rock typically ignored how he looked and did what the company wanted, but that's not even a big issue for him if he's sticking to Hollywood.

They'll do what's best for the company, which is pretty awesome.

Rock has offered to job to people before to put them over, so I see no reason why he wouldn't here considering it will be his last match. The problem is, will the FANS buy it when he does?

One thing about that Hogan match was the crowd in Toronto was heavily behind HH and booed the Rock's offense, and he wasn't even hated like Cena was.

no way the crowd buys Cena's win....half the crowd was cheering when he lost to a heel because of interference from The Rock

People might dislike Cena even more in a year.

Rock laid down whenever he came back to put Evolution over. He'll 100% lose this one.

not a chance he will lose as most of the mania crowd will be behind the rock, when have WWE ever had a Wrestlemania main event that sent the vast majority of the audience home unhappy?

also.... it is is Miami, Florida. The Rocks home town, 100% of the crowd will back him because he is the peoples champ and the hometown hero, there is no way the Rock will lose and anyone who disagrees is insane!

If it wasn't for EVERY SINGLE PERSON OVER THE AGE OF 12 rooting for Rock AND it being in miami flordia, I might have agreed that he would lose but....overwhelming odds here....although cena knows all about those

I can see the Rock jobbing. He has never really had his wrestlemania moment, unless you count Austin's going away match in 03. He lost in the main event 3 years in a row, and then while he was put over against Hogan, the moment wasn't his. On the other hand, the company can't afford to not have Cena win. This is a generational battle and if Cena loses then WWE is telling their fans that the modern product is inferior.

Hopefully the year long build up can be as good as Sting/Hogan in 97 (I highly doubt it) but with a better pay off.

It'd make more sense for Cena to win than to lose to a guy who isn't a wrestler (erm, Superstar) anymore, so I voted for him. I think the Rock will end up winning, though.

Best way to book it.

Have The Rock be the fulcrum to turn the younger fans against Cena. The older fans already hate him, but they arent pissing a way a cash cow and if they just make him a dick, that's what they'd do, if they can use a more popular star to turn him, then they wont lose the young fans. And after Cena beats the Rock, you can have an up and coming face avenge the defeat and become the new Cena in the eyes of younger fans.

The Rock-Hogan >>>>>>>>>>>>> Cena-Rock

The first pair is literally the biggest two superstars the wrestling, entertainment world has ever seen.

Even if you never watched a minute of wrestling, entertainment you knew who those two are/were. Can't say the same for Cena.

buildup may not be as good, but the payoff should be pretty easy to eclipse.

I'll tell you one or two generations know Stone Cold. EVERY generation knows Rock and Hogan.

Rock/Hogan is the biggest match you'll ever see. It is definitely the Ali-Tyson of wrestling and I got to see it live in person.

Hogan will run in and give both the Legdrop of Doom, but put Cena on top of Rock as revenge for losing to him twice years ago.

Rock could very well be the heel if he disappears for months again. Which is likely.

Rock also has no problem jobbing to anyone (Lesnar, The Hurricane, etc). Rock was good for that. No politics, really. He just seemed like he liked to have fun.

As far as the match? I like The Rock. I like Cena more than I ever liked Hogan (as a kid I liked Mr. Perfect, Alex Wright, Bret Hart, Aldo Montoya, Ricky Steamboat, and the 1-2-3 Kid). Hated Hogan. Always did. Always will. So the answer? Yes.

The Rock and Austin are from the same Era, how the hell do you say people know one but not the other? especially when comparing austin and rock.

I just think Rock has more star power world wide because of the movies and everything. Not very many people saw the Condemned and he was secondary in Expendables.

Everyone who's a fan of the attitude Era knows Austin. But Rock is a bigger star than Austin.
