Prediction: Boyle will get himself a nice little contract this offseason, maybe of a cap hit around $1.7 million, and he will never score 20 goals again. He'll score 6 goals next season.
Our up and down offense continues tonight. It's been like this all season. We either score five or six goals or we can only pot one. Tired of it.
Our season is now in the hands of the Atlanta Thrashers. Rangers need Atlanta to beat Carolina tomorrow. Will they? Probably not. Carolina is a fresh, desperate team. We showed no desperation tonight. Major disappointment in such an pivotal game.
The thing is, the Rangers beat top teams. They just refuse to show up in games they should win.
I generally would agree. That's why I was excited about a potential upset about a week ago.
This feels really bad now though, like the Callahan injury is really significant and all of a sudden the weight of the occasion and fatigue of 81 games landed on them.
Before when they'd have a bad streak they still were working and had too many injuries so it seemed less alarming.
my feeling is weird...in fact, it's almost as if i feel relieved from not having to be so stressed anymore.
This team has put us through the wringer the last two seasons.
On the one hand, this is where I expected us to be at the beginning of the year. It's the way we've ended up here that is the problem. Battling adversity in injuries just to piss our playoff chances away against teams like the Islanders and Atlanta, while beating Philly and Boston, is downright unacceptable.
Ending up in 9th place again, literally the worst position a team can possibly be in, is just heartbreaking.
If the Thrashers show up flatfooted against the Hurricanes tomorrow, I'm buying the team and moving them somewhere crazy, like Guam. Even there they at least would have a decent fanbase.
If people are there to root for the team or cool off from the ice is irrelevant.
