He's not going. He's staying at Oregon.

3 AM tweet.

You guys should be happy Kelly passed, I don't think his style would translate well to the pro game. Oregon has a speed and talent advantage over most of the teams they play but that would not be the case in the pros. I think he would've been a disaster in Tampa.

Mike Zimmer, Head Coach - Sherman Offensive Coordinator and maybe Asst. HC

Latest update is Sherman is the ONLY candidate contacted for a 2nd interview.....Why is it every coaching search for the Bucs reminds me of Bullwinkle saying "Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat"?...and of course, it's never a rabbit.

Bucs are really dragging out this heading coaching hire. Hope the choice can turn it around quickly.

Probably because Rivera called them up and told them to get their ass in gear because he was tired of waiting too.

Greg Schiano close to deal with Bucs. Head Coach at Rutgers. Has a Head coaching record of 67-67 but is 56-33 over the last 6 seasons. Former Defensive coach with the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears.

Agreed. I'm never sold on college coaches but he did a great job turning that program from one of the worst in the NCAA into a decent program. It's different from Kelly who inherited a good program at Oregon. This could be a good hire for the Bucs.

I was going to post this before Schiano was hired and it's pertaining to the article in the Tribune from Roy Cummings regarding Raheem Morris and his new job....Does anybody else see anything disturbing about Rah's comments?

"It isn't just Morris' players who are in the process of learning something new here. Morris, who signed with the Redskins a week after he was fired by the Bucs, says he is learning, too. He said he took the job with the Redskins, in part, because it would allow him to learn more about the three-linemen, four-linebacker scheme they run, which is vastly different from the 4-3 scheme the Bucs utilized. It's a very good defense that's worked for a long time with some of those 3-4 schemes and so this is a chance for me to learn and develop as well," Morris said. "This is going to allow me to become a better coach."

So....am I hearing correctly that this coach we had for 3 years really didn't have much of a clue when it came to going up against teams playing the 3-4? This HEAD COACH left it up to Greg Olson to come up with a plan for our offense against a defense our DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR didn't know much about? Our HEAD COACH who fired a REAL Defensive Coordinator and fired Jeff Jagodzinski because of his offensive shortcomings? What does this tell you about this organization????

Bucs have asked permission to speak with AZ Cardinals WR Coach John McNulty for the OC position. McNulty was also former OC for Rutgers.

Would make sense that Schiano wants a lot of his own guys at staff. I am excited and skeptical at the same time. One things for sure, this team always keeps you guessing. The thing that has me most optimistic is the high regards from Belichick.

We need a very good DC and OC for this team. I hope they get some veteran NFL assistants in here.

Sounds like the coach impresses everyone he's worked with.

What I love about Schiano is that he's very Sean Payton-esque, where he's not afraid to take risks. He also is an aggressive play caller and loves to use the blitz.

This is what I love about the Lightning forum....a group of intellectuals that actually read posts and newspapers and do a little research about what they talk about rather than the Bucs forum that make comments like "u r dum" or "Bucs r a bunch of loosers"....

Lol I avoid football forums at all costs. Ive noticed the same thing as you have a long long time ago.

But after watching the press conference at buccaneers.com I am feeling more and more confident. I know that everything he says doesnt mean much until we really see results, but everything he is preaching is making a ton of sense. I am very excited for next season to come around already, even though its a long way away :p.

Who do we pick up in this years draft you think?

Blackmon will be gone by 5th pick. I would like to take Richardson if he is available. The consensus is either Trent or Claiborne. Cant go wrong with either I think..

I think the consensus is that if Richardson is available, he gets taken.
