Canada/Columbus Respect - What's that about?

I'm just curious where this comment stems from. It comes up on the main forum several times and I don't want to ask on there because I'm not looking for an opportunity to create arguments or a possible 'we're better than you' debate. Anyone willing to fill me in?

The only thing I can gather is that a select few fans from Canadian cities seem to think Columbus does not deserve an NHL team. I've never seen anything significant surrounding this topic and I don't think it's anything rampant. Opinions are like a-holes....everybody has one. I don't think there's an issue here.

During the stellar beginning to the 2010-2011 season by the BJ's, a CBJ fan went on the 'mains' and said something like "Will Canada respect the Blue Jackets now?". It didn't go over well. He was ridiculed by non bj-fans and bj-fans alike. It became a worn out meme quickly. The guy didn't mean to bring this upon himself or the team - it was just a misstep and I for one have forgiven and forgotten. I only bring up the details to answer your question.

Thanks for filling me in. I thought it was a huge issue which is why I didn't wanna ask on the main forum. It doesn't take much for a joke to become overused on the main forum so it was probably my own fault for assuming it was a big deal, lol.

And there's your answer.

Not a whole lot to do with the team though. Thread Closed.
