I honestly wouldn't mind him playing another year in the SEL. If we do sign him, I sure hope he spends the majority of the season down in the AHL, but I don't think he wants that.

I honestly think that these players in the SEL should look at some of the players who played in Binghamton the last few seasons, and how much their game has progressed.. Karlsson is a GREAT example for Swedes..

I'm still shocked that some 1000+ post users don't understand this.

how is injuries a definition of Overrated?

Thats like saying lindros and forsberg were overrated because of the numerous injuries both suffered.

Came here for 3 weeks, went home for a bit, came back.

They were playing him in Sweden and our docs said that wasn't a good idea, so we brought him here and had Chow and the other guy work with him. He's good now and they don't expect it to be a problem going forward. Could have played in a game or something if we had more.

Didn't say where he'd be playing next year, but I suspect he'll be at main camp and probably spends time in Binghamton.

Also said Da Costa needs to get into better shape all around, he'll go home for a week, he'll play in the WJC in France, and he'll be in Ottawa all summer getting stronger.

I just don't get where overrated comes from, no ones really hyping him that hard. I think it's just great we aren't going to lose any chance of him becoming anything because of injury. He's got one tool we lack completely in the org, a shot. Let's develop him.

The vast majority of people here still don't understand that a 2-way contract has no impact on waiver status. Baby steps, brah.

Post count on a message forum doesn't really mean much. There are plenty of threads out there that are not relevant to hockey, and there are tons of users on these boards that like to post one word answers that don't contribute to the discussion. (Not saying everyone does that)

I have 6000+ posts and I still don't know all of the rules inside and out. I've learned quite a bit around these boards tho.

****ING AMAZING NEWS.

I am a HUGE fan of Petersson.

Here's hoping that motives Silfverberg to sign here next year.

Silfverberg, Rundblad, Karlsson, Alfredsson, Lehner, Petersson, Landeskog(Hopefully!)

Inject that with Spezza, Cowen, Neil, Wiercioch, Greening, Condra, Butler, Da Costa, Michalek

And you've got the next Red Wings.

I think people are underrating how much Silfverberg's shot has developed. Even on display today on the national team. It's seriously a laser. I've watched them both and I really don't see much of a difference between the caliber of their shots.

The dividents of the 2008 NHL draft just keep paying off. I know not to overrate prospects but on potential alone is this the best draft in Senators history?

Erik Karlsson- 15th overall, All-Star defenceman

Patrick Wiercioch-42nd overall, NCAA standout, big as hell, needs muscle and could be dominant PMD, Has picked up his game in the first year pro

Zack SMith- 79th overall, Been on team most of year, potential 3rd line center material

Andre Petterson- 109th overall, Back issues but still Top six potential, Leading scorer in (2009?) WJC

Derek Grant- 119th overall, big body, NCAA point getter

Mark Borowiecki- 139th overall- NCAA crasher, big body, potential top four defenceman for Binghamton next year in his first pro season

Emil Sandin- 199th overall- Doesn't have future with the club

Of the group of 7, six ELC's signed, one all star, three players already played for the team, ALl six have a future with the club

I really don't care if we burn off a year. All that means is Petersson getting less time to develop and show his stuff before his contract is up, allowing us to sign him at a lower price and/or better term. I doubt it happens though. No point in giving him a game this late in the season.

Here's the thing about that. It's not true. Detroit has and has had talent across the world. That is their secret to success. Datsyuk, Federov, Fetisov, Larionov, Kozlov, Konstantinov, Hall, Chelios, Rafalski... American, Russian, Swedish, Canadian. Who cares.

Detroit drafts based on upside. That said, they don't draft exceedingly well anyways compared to other good teams.

Im really excited for next season! Even if Petersson is bingo bound, he could get called up to the injuries that will surely happen. Maybe when Alfie needs to rest his back .

The faster they get him away from HV and into their control the better...treated like nothing over there. Worked for Tedenby, even though he's a better prospect.

Awesome news! It would have been sad if the guy couldn't make the NHL because of his back. Now he'll have the chance to prove he's a really good prospect.

Not true. The Kings burned a year of Jack Johnson's ELC with 5 games in 06-07 because he was viewed as a hard sign and that part of the negotiation came into play. It's not entirely unheard of for teams to negotiate the "burned year" into the contract. It's essentially a loophole for the players that have a bit of leverage to enter the draft again or go UFA after their college careers end.
