Sharks playoff schedule

I haven't seen any discussion on this yet - so what are people's best guesses on the dates of games 1 & 2.

Looking at the event schedule on the HP Pavilion website - the only booked days are Friday (4/15 - Joel Osteen) and the following Saturday (4/23 - Sabrecats @ 6:30).

4/14 and 4/16 for Games 1 and 2 seems plausible although back in 08 when I believe HP was booked for the first Friday of the playoffs they opened with back-to-backs on Wednesday and Thursday against the Flames. That was stupid. The higher-seeded team shouldn't be robbed of weekend playoff games.

D'oh. I thought the Sabrecats game is next sat, not two weeks from now. In this case Thu-Sat.

It probably will be one of those two. I doubt they make us play on back to back nights to open the playoffs again (Wednesday/Thursday).

This is the main reason I don't want to play Chicago in the 1st round. The NHL caters to the "big market" teams and will do whatever they have to do to get them a home weekend game..especially if it can be shown on NBC!

I feel the same way.......and so it is for exactly that reason that I'm sure the league will have our games be Wednesday/Thursday

Obviously the Tank is booked Fri 4/15 (concert) and Sat 4/23 (Sabrecats).

From what I could glean from the event calendars of the other likely opponents (Chi, Nsh, Phx, Ana), the only arena with any scheduling conflicts for the first round is Nashville's Bridgestone Arena with events scheduled for Sat 4/16, Tues 4/19, and Thurs 4/21.

So a series with the Preds would pretty much have to start next Thursday, and then run every other day (Thurs, Sat, @ Mon, @ Wed, Fri, @Sun, Tues). Any other configuration for that series would just be incredibly out of whack (though maybe a Wed-Sat deal for the 1st two games).

Every other likely opponent's arena is pretty much open for the first round, and the league would be free to tinker with the schedule for however they want the TV lineup.

So a Nashville matchup seems the safest bet for a Thurs-Sat-etc. schedule, though frankly that would be the best series schedule for any opponent the Sharks draw.......though as stalockrox pointed out, if we draw Chicago in the first round, it's probably not out of the question that we'd get stuck with Wed-Thurs so that they could get a Sunday home game in Chicago on NBC for Game 3, with the rest of the schedule following suit.

I didn't think of this. Wouldn't surprise me either.

Maybe we'll get a 10 AM home game on Saturday so it can be on NBC at noon in Chicago

...

Last year, the final game of the Sharks regular season was Saturday (same as this year.) And their first playoff game was Wednesday. That doesn't guarantee anything for this year, but there ya' go.

If Game A falls on Wednesday night though... i've got a pair of tickets i'm willing to trade for Game B.

I'm voting for Thurs/Sat. Makes sense with the Osteen crap, avoids back to backs, gives the Sharks a division champ a weekend home playoff date (ANOTHER reason to avoid drawing the Hawks, as mentioned NBC would love to give them a home game on a weekend while we get screwed on back to backs) and I'll be back in the good ole USA to see it instead of waiting for my flight at Incheon Airport where I doubt there will be a combination of free internet and internet good enough for slingbox to watch a part of the game before my flight takes off.

Not possible considering the schedule hasn't been announced, and won't until Sunday night. They may have said the NHL playoffs open Wednesday, April 13th, but that's not the same as saying that Game 1 at HP Pavilion will be on that day.

Nothing is more "anti-hockey" then a noon time playoff game.

It's utterly the worst ***** in the world, and last year vs Chicago it just didn't feel right being at it.

I hope to hell we don't have to play a noon time game, seeing as they suck and we never win them.

Nothing makes me angrier than Game 6 or 7 of a hockey series being before (at the earliest) 5pm local.

The only POSSIBLE thing the league could do worse is add either 4-on-4 or shootouts to overtime. 4-on-4 would put me close to the line, and shootouts would just make me stop following hockey completely.

tickets wnt on sale for games a and b on monday, but there are no dates confirmed as to when those games will be played. purely speculation at this point.

edit: just got a text from my friend who works in the control booth at HP (he controls the ad board rings) and he said tentative dates for games 1/2 are Thurs 14th and Sat 16th.
